So, my friend is traveling around in south Asia for a few months, and leaves in 10 days from the US. she is batshit fucking crazy freaking out because she does not have an Indian visa yet. she is ready to mail the application and passport, etc, but she needs an address of the place she is staying. she has friends there but cannot get a hold of them, so has no address. I told her to look up the address of a hostel in the city she will be spending her time, and just write that down even though she will not stay there. she has no idea where she will be staying other than this friends place.

now, is the customs going to big brother up and call the hostel to confirm a reservation? or is she just going guanic for no reason?

Tell her to contact their office and ask what her options are explaining the situation she finds herself in.

They have people who provide customer service and answer those questions to assist travelers.

Then she can make informed decisions.

dude, everywhere i have traveled, i put down completely bogus addresses and they didnt even care. i've been to at least a dozen different countries and never had a legitimate plan of where i was staying. for example, when i was in bangkok:

123 Kho Sahn Road
Bangkok, Thailand

turns out 123 kho sahn road was a pretty sweet bar though

she called and got it worked out with a visa place.

also, I always made one up also whenever I left the country. no one pays attention.
