I'll Groundcrew in Europe For You
Hello all,

So at the moment I have plans for the Summer to travel Europe ghetto style by sleeping on trains and finding cheap entertainment wherever I happen to find myself. Ideally, my travels will include most of the countries where certain large cliffs may be found, and and I would be more than willing to offer my services as groundcrew to anyone planning to jump there.

I am not entirely sure what I could offer, I'm no Base Jumper, but I do skydive (newbie), so I do have an inkling of what is going on or could probably pick things up quickly.

I don't know if this is how you do things or if I should try to do stuff locally first, but I thought it was worth a try. I have no intentions of starting base anytime soon, if ever (it both scares and fascinates the shit out of me). But I think one of the best ways to make an informed decision is to get exposed to it. It would also just be cool to see in person.

Anyway, let me know what you think, point me in the right direction, ask questions, give me advice...

PM Me

Thanks

a couple of the major cliffs will have virtually a constant presence throughout the summer.

in years past, the Stavanger BASE Klubb has hired somebody to drive the bus and boat. ya can't get more involved without jumping... (don't expect exciting pay.)

So in saying that a couple of major cliffs in Europe have a constant presence, are you implying that it's cool to just walk up and be all like: "hey, I skydive, mind if I hang around, watch and help"?

As far as getting hired goes, I'd be very pleasantly surprised, but I'll probably shoot off an email anyway; worth a shot.

And thanks greenmachine

I can't promise you anything, except you WILL meet people at the popular bar in the Swiss Valley, at the Italian cliff hangout, or in Lysebotn (not much there).

be friendly, helpful, and listen attentively and they might show you a thing or two. be a demanding, know-it-all American pompous ass, and they might not.

Here we go again! Never ever stopping complaining even they have perfect legal cliffs to jump from as much as they desire (only the weather is good?)
