Skydiving Magazine...
I called them today, for one reason or another... only to find out that they have closed their doors. This makes me very sad because they actually published base articles... who wants to rally together and purchase the rights to the magazine? Wink

Re: [AndrewKarnowski] Skydiving Magazine...
Maybe if they delivered their product in a reasonable time, they would have not needed to shut down. I used to get mine sometimes 3 weeks late (and heard the same from others). I called them (twice in fact over a period of several months) and no one gave a fuck.........so I canceled my sub.

Goes to show you what happens to a business if they run it to shit.

If you take it over, at least make sure it's sent out by the first week of the month.

parachutist is better anyw....CrazyCrazyCrazyCrazyCrazySlySlyUnsureCrazyCrazyCrazy

ok couldn't keep a straight face. yeah, lets buy it. great stories, diversity, and pictures. I would help but I have no money.

or we could ask the grumbly old women and men at parachutist to de-segregate the old mans club and get some non-toys 'r' us style and move on from flocking wingsuits and 'pilot' canopy ads, grow a pair, and add some actual parachuting articles as opposed to only fully certified skydiving.

is it just me, or is everything [wingsuiting, freeflying, Atmonauti] just turning into slightly different forms or RW?

how much $$ are we talking about? not that I have a surplus of cash...

Re: [AndrewKarnowski] Skydiving Magazine...
maybe it's a curse. any mag that covers BASE becomes "collectible."

boo.

Re: [AndrewKarnowski] Skydiving Magazine...
perhaps the economy has partially crushed skydiving as well as the recent huge fuel costs that only recently dropped.

Re: [hookitt] Skydiving Magazine...
lets just make our own mag. publish electronically. user submitted content and imagery. send it out thru email and html.

content can be anything aviation related. maye even add some mountian fun.

an action sports mag with an aviation bias.

id be in for sure.

if your interested in publishing/reading stories online, feel free to post things here!

develop writing skills and if it proves a hit, then take it somewhere else and sell advertising.

A audience who salute you every time, or make a long hate tread? Cool

Re: [wwarped] Skydiving Magazine...
i view this more as an informal social forum rather than something like a magazine. an editor really is needed to filter out the bad content and improve the good content. most long posts here, even if they really make good points, are so long winded and ramlbing they cause me to zone out within the first one or two paragraphs.

RE: our informal social forum

I also think that some of the poor grammar,
spelling, and punctuation makes some of the
better ideas and valid points get lost.

Re: [460] Skydiving Magazine...
people post jump stories here from time to time. others write articles. many enjoy reading the stories. gotta love RiggerLee's arctic tales for example.

and yes, it is informal, biased toward brief material. there is no real editor or official editorial slant. good content gets mixed up with bad.

how would a newbie start a new mag? they'd need to know how to generate content, advertising, layout, publishing, customer base, etc. an interested newbie could practice generating content here, and also create a base. if good at that, then move on for the next step.

heck, NickDG has already done so. many here enjoy his stories and would love to see more. I bet many (including myself) would buy his book. he has generated support.

if someone wishes to write, they can post it here. when they get good and prolific, they should go somewhere more suitable.

why start with a grand idea before mastering the basics?

Isn't anything posted on this forum automatically copyright ©2009 NameMedia & Friends?

Or is that only unless noted otherwise?

you are probably correct and NameMedia claims copyright. I'd guess that is for various legal reasons. but you have a point. heck, employers technically own everything related to their corporate e-mail. a few employees never realized it, to their peril.

'course most of what gets written here is nigh worthless...

but you bring up another reason to take quality writing elsewhere.
