Weather in Lauterbrunnen, March...?
Hey
Anyone been to Lauterbrunnen in March before?
I've heard it might still be snow-packed then?
Thanks,
Rob

depending on how much snow they've gotten its usually good to go, that is for down in the valley. just gotta hike through the snow, but all the exits are usually tracked out. eiger could be tough, unless your on skis.Wink

its a great time to be there, quite and mellow

I was there in March 08.
Higher ground had plenty of snow......which was just starting to melt on the talus's and the LZ's

The snow up top made the hikes a little tricky(compared to the summer) but also a good laugh !
...I was fine in regular boots , but those with mini crampons ( available in the sports store in town) wasted less energy on the hikes..
Required? ...absolutely not
Made life a little easier ? Yes

Personally I preferred the lower temperatures....made the hikes much less sweaty
And plenty of cold water all around you to cool off and drink ;)

If you are planning any trips to non 'E' stuff outside of the Valley....give yourself plenty of time for the journey and the hikes.....you WILL need it.

You can see the conditions in March 08 in the video below.

Have fun..
