BASE Moral?
I now open this thread here after I pushed a discussion on a fatal accident in the incident forum.
I just wanted to know what happened but I also took sidesteps which were not relating to the memory of the guy who died. So I am changing the platform with respect. The basic story there ended in a discussion about the limits and moral of our sport.

Well of course, there is never a limit as someone steps on new ground. But how many real new ground do we face in our sport?
And I’m not talking about new exit points or your personal way thru new experiences.
I am talking about the responsible to use existing knowledge and experiences whilst getting aware of your true abilities.
This will be the for real the biggest respect you ever can show towards your BASE fellows.

For example a guy who does a 3sec delay from a 250ft antenna with slider up and a 36 inches PC may not succeed. And I am sure everyone would be surprised about such a dead born idea afterwards.

But we all will experience the public and inside impact of this no limit stuff. And if your most famous cliff will be closed one day, consequences become even more real.
I know we can’t prevent such stuff here on this forum. But as jumpers we can.

So challenges become relative in relation to the minding and skills of a jumper and what he wants to achieve.
And it is not up to me to judge others horizons. But I can raise my voice to ask you to be responsible towards me.

The more our community grows the more this will have impacts on us. We all know that BASE is a free sport and it should be the biggest freedom for everyone who wants to join the club. But our freedom also ends as it affects others. So respect this in your judgement and try to be a plausible BASEr. This includes to respect the locals as the rules and ethics around an object.
And have you ever tested if you are also OK with it by just not to race behind your ego and recognition? It is a real peaceful feeling and I experienced it as the next level.

We all know that there are as many individual reasons out there to jump as there are jumpers. But at the end we can not ignore each other only for personal advantages.
Hmm, as I write this, did history not always fail on tasks like this? So maybe it is our chance in time to start showing that we are of better kind.

BASE meanwhile will stay a beast and it is up to us to leave it sleeping. So if you step on the tigers tail stay on alert.

I personally will keep to give my best to work on good judgement and reliable skills. That is what I owe you guys. And there is always the chance not to jump in a particular, not good looking situation.
And be careful what you try to squeeze out of BASE as no one said BASE can be an idiot proved sport.

Happy new year
M.

Re: [Mahle] BASE Moral?
I agree, there is a difference between pushing your limits and being recklas. Listen to your peers, more often than not someone will square you up if they think what your doing is a bit too much. Avoid a "FUCK YOU I KNOW WHAT IM DOING" attitude, because it will kill you some day.

Re: [460] BASE Moral?
Well worth the time to read, thanks for expanding on the only rule of the last outlaw sport (besides shark wrastlin').
"don't do anything that keeps others from jumping"
