How much will that cost?

Re: [TreeRat] Rigger question
Is metal to metal a good idea? Should you have webbing or line between the two? Just questions. It sounds like a great idea though.

Re: [TreeRat] Rigger question
It's common in CRW to add a link to the rear to help match the glide of another canopy so I wouldn't worry about the metal to metal issue. 3 Rings are metal.

I have no clue how much it would affect a Super Raven by adding a link to the front. It would be worth making a skydive or several to find out but I'd be reluctant to BASE it.

I may be reading into it but it sounds as if you thinking about jumping with out a slider from the plane? Leave the slider on.

Re: [hookitt] Rigger question
no even as slow as 50 knots with out a slider wow that would be a ass buster from hell

Re: [TreeRat] Rigger question
You changed your post! I just wondered why you mentioned how slow the pilot could fly.

Anyway, link to link has been done pretty regularly. Be sure to wrap the links with gaffers tape or Vet Wrap or something to keep them in line.

cool didnt think of that ...thanks

An immediate deployment of a
Mojo280 from a shopping bag
out of a very slow cessna 182
without a slider caused me
severe pain!! Do not do it!!

I don't mean to laugh but i can picture that in my mind and see all the upper and lower spinal cord compressing to there limits

You know that split second between
tripping and then watching everything
go ass over tea cups?

Well I exited on my back into the
relative wind and the second I had
the shopping bag off of the pack
job, even before line stretch I
thought, "Oh Shit, the Slider!!".

I happened to have one of my Sky-Frog
t-shirts on that said: Feeling Froggy?
Then Jump. So I land wimpering and
a smart ass at the DZ walks up, looks
at me, and then said in a smooth, slow
voice, "So ~Tom, still feeling froggy?".

At the time I wanted to cry and hit him
but was too spent to do either, at least
now it is a funny story.

Re: [TreeRat] Rigger question
I would try a englinsh link, I heard they are stronger than the french drinks.. Just try it and see how it goes, let me know and I will bring the beer

Re: [GreenMachine] Rigger question
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... Dunkeswell (uk) 1982, I remember seeing a picture stuck on a wall at the dz. It was a cartoon of a canopy over an aircraft tail with the jumper twirling behind, and the caption; "See, I told you not to pack it slider down." Humour from the original UK crew.
No shit, there I was, etc. (Just watching and listing excuses.)

has any one that's jumped a Raven ever added a inch or so to the front risers to flatten its glide slope?

Changing the aoa of the canopy probably won't change the glide noticeably with an old Raven. They are porous and don't glide flat at best. Do it off the pavement at the DZ before trying at your tough accuracy onto broken boulders BASE site. Adding a french link works fine. You could also use a few turns of 750# knotted and tacked.

Some thing else to consider is that adding more legnth to the front riser may dramatically alter the way the canopy inflates without a slider. This could be a good thing or a vary bad thing. Ravens aren't known for their rapid cell inflation as it is. It is possible that changing the angle of attack on inflation may cause the canopy to stall violently during bottom skin inflation causing the canopy to "fall" backwards before the cells inflate.
Hookit had the right idea of testing it on a skydive first. However you'll have a slider on for that so if you have access to a hot air balloon, that would be your best bet for testing it
