I agree Wink

However, it did dawn on me that
BASE jumpers tend to be more
inclined to be using a non-PC
and/or a non-IE browser.

If I'm reading the results properly, looks like PC is in the lead!

Happy Holidays Sir.

Yes, you are reading the results correctly.
However, 58% PC is a much lower market
share than that of the general population.

If you haven't tried it yet, try running Windows in a virtual machine from within Linux.

For me it's ideal. The stability of Linux that you love, but with Windows available at the click of a button when you need it. And Windows actually runs stably, because it doesn't have to load any device drivers.

I do all my work in Linux, but edit video in Sony Vegas (which requires Windows). Whenever I want to render some video, I fire up VirtualBox (an open source virtual machine) and do all my work in Windows from within Linux. Funny thing is...Windows XP actually runs FASTER inside VirtualBox than running natively.

Re: [inzite] Your Home Computer
I've noticed something similar. Even in the absence of a complete virtualization, Photoshop on wine (or its derivatives) can actually be faster on Linux than on Windows. This is especially true when dealing with very large files. I guess the Linux memory manager / allocator is just that much more efficient.

Re: [GreenMachine] Your Home Computer
I bought a macbook pro in 2006, my first mac. 2nd best choice in major product purchase I made, behind the blackjack. I run windows once or twice a month on a segmented hard drive, and all i use that for is a flight simulator and my garmin GPS waypoint and USGS topo sync. it irks me every time i have to load it, I find it slow (the windows) even though it runs considerably faster than my friend's HP laptop that cost just as much.

I find the difference in Windows running PCs and Macs kinda like the car brands, ford/gm (windows)-sure they have amazing compatibility, the 'high end' and 'grease monkey/hackers' know a bit more about how they run than the average joe, but the overall flow, beauty, and engineering of a newer macbook pro fit in with german car companies. they are more expensive, do the same things just faster and smoother.

just an opinion.

it's just like x-box vs. sony play station, x-box has is great visually, but sony has lot's game more than x-box. they are both good, but any type of computer (mac,pc,) you need software that is adorable and have lot's of selection, if you have no software the computer is worthless
