Re: [vinnie1283] opening shock and problems with video
I have the same problem on an HC7. It happens on about 50% of my jumps, depending on how swift the opening is. The actual skipped video can be anywhere from 2-3 frames to as much as 3-4 seconds (it's rare that the lost video is more than a second, though).
It's a real PITA for editing video, because when you use video from a jump where the camera skipped, in the final cut you have to transition to the next scene before the jump's deployment sequence begins. It makes the viewer feel like he's been cheated out of part of the jump. The jumper is still in freefall, and then suddenly the scene starts to fade before the familiar motions of opening shock have even started. I'm planning to pick up a CX12 as a second camera party because of that issue.
