If anyone has any advice on how to access and run an A's elevator please PM me. Ive been climbing my local A for a while now and Ive paid my dues to the object. Its time to figure out how to run the elevator.

im plane bound right now, but from what i learned in this activity...

what happened to leaving it the way it is, to lazy to climb the fucking thing some more? this is why when i finally get the knowledge required to go jumping off objects, there wont be anymore objects for me to jump off of that dont have an army around it.

Nice first post you tool. If you would've bothered to read the post you would have educated yourself on the concept of a PM. I requested that all advice and assistance in this matter be kept private. I received multiple PMs on this issue, and my problem has since been solved. Why climb when the elevator is a solution. Relax man, the forums at this point for you are for education. Dont make enemies through rants and attacks.

yeah, well Jay, some of the new kids want everything handed to them and don't bother to do their own work/recon...and are quite opportunistic, as well as willing to fuck over whoever, whenever to get what they want.

In my class if your cell phone goes off,
rings or vibrates, then you get to pick
from two options:
1) Get Out - no explanations needed (sick kid, etc.)
2) Apologize & Do 10 push ups

I get down and do them with the student
while the class counts them out. Both
male & females are allowed to put their
knees down if needed. Some of them
can only do 2 or 3 then need a rest.

SO at the end of the semester I have them
fill out a form and under 'what did you like
least about class' I usually have a dozen
kids every semester say: The Push-Ups

I am in decent shape and after 30 climbs I dream of elevators

And I know plenty of people that have been in the sport for many years and have done all the work to get keys. Sometimes you have to be creative, sometimes it's a matter of paying your dues and sometimes you meet the right people.

And since you brought in the history of the original poster... no I don't believe he has paid his dues and I view him as very opportunistic. He has no problem with f*cking over anyone to get what he wants and that's a skydiver mentality. And to be quite honest, he can claim the numbers he claims all day long, I don't buy it. After too many years in skydiving and base, no one that's doing anything full time manages to pull the numbers he claims in a year.

I have, actually, have never even SEEN an elevator on a tower. after 5 years and coming up on 500 BASE jumps, I have climbed the ladder every time. until a few months ago. when I said fuck it, I'm sick of this. so, I spent a long time designing and building self locking guy-lock pulleys, working out the math, moment arms, limits of the function, and built my own elevator.

the picture is me riding a trampoline, exposure is 60 sec, white light streak my headlamp, to 600'

I saw the pictures, that pretty intense bro. Time and money invested?

original idea, for a external elevator on a tower was in 2003, this basic concept I called "redshift", started drawing out plans in 2006, started building the pulley in April, made 7 attempts to gather crew (I need 3 people, including one other competent rigger and myself). this rig took 12 hours on site. that includes testing the pulley lock for the first time, building the system, ~ rides up and down, BASE from the tramp several times, de-rigging, packing up, and leaving site.

the gear needed for this system probably cost upwards of 4k USD, but I already had all the ropes from rope jumping stockpiles, and the specialty pulleys cost about 200 USD to build.

now that is has been done, I can probably set it up in 2 hours. first time we got on site at 8pm, system was not built until 2am.

Thats rad man. Good on ya, now pack it up and drive to florida. That sounds like a sick jump.

One question though. Does a line pull the tramp up the guy from a pulley on the tower itself? I was confused by the concept and the pictures.

nothing comes near the tower, the idea evolved from doing something cool, to doing something useful. I can now jump a tower without ever being near the base of it, it skips all security.

do you think that your project could somehow bypass through a trespassing loophole? have you researched the legality of it?

hahaha... I seriously doubt it. the guy is still part of the tower, the tower and land around the tower is owned by the tower, or easement of the tower, and the best case scenario is it could stall/delay/confuse the court/law system into giving up.

the goal is to not get caught, not do it legally. but its not like you can run away or play dumb if you have a trampoline in the air hanging from a 2000' tower.

like everything I build with ropes, they are site specific. this tower had perfect terrain and construction to support this system.

be aware that the limit switched at the bottom and top of the elevator may not work when operating the elevator with the emergency override. if the elevator hits the top in this case (and with repeated banging), the system will fail, the pulley will break, the elevator will fall, and the tower will collapse.

I am way to lazy to climb so I just go to 200 or so ft and jump. All you guys that like sub terminal tracking can climbe 1500' and impress me.

i guess me and my homo friends will keep all our "un-earned" terminal elevator rides to ourselves then. yay for us!

Oh, and feel free to read the "Articles" portion of this website. It will teach you much, as will lurking. Thinking about it, being quiet and attentive tends to help when dealing with less-than-legal objects as well. ( hmmm... Improve BASE skills by practicing politeness. I like it!)

Regarding "Tool": Your definition is far too literal. Mine is more figurative, applicable to the topic, and obviously too complex. I should have reiterated the difficulty in grasping that.

Out of curiosity, are you a BASE jumper? I trolled through your my-space page, looks like your an active skydiver and climber. climb in the J-tree often? if so I have some sweet spots there you should check out. (outside the park)
