Re: [gbegley] Jumping a B on your own w/ GC
alone with one ground crew (usually my husband

)....for the integrity and humility of the experience. For some jumps, the less parachutes, the less likely to get caught.
I think many people would not do half of the things they do if others where not part of the equation. I know that as a beginner we need somebody with more experience and knowledge to help assist us with our choices on objects that we jump. Of course we should always have a ground crew person with us not only for look-out, but for safety issues as well. Jumping alone makes the experience more intense because of self-analysis regarding the risk and reward issue that sometimes is pushed aside when more people are involved in the jump. There is security in numbers and the larger the number creates a false sense of safety . The ego becomes defenseless and can then override a good sense of judgement, as it often does in everyday life. The larger the population gets, the more the choices become competitive.
How many of us would jump if there were no bragging rights or video? Dont get me wrong, i am totally proud of participating in such an activity and i have plenty of photos and video but am just curious about our motivation in jumping. How many jumpers analyze and truly think about every nuance of what it is that they are about to do and how prepared, body, mind and spirit to undertake the task at hand?
