22m/72ft water jump
Planing to static line 22m into water. Will jump it rigless just to get used to it since it is a very high jump.

Will do a standing up exit. Any suggestions? Should open right?

Re: [rakkers] 22m/72ft water jump
we once did unpacked jumps from that height and got 1.5 to 2 seconds canopy time.

it was 71 feet as a i recall, but the mushrooms made it higher.

Try doing the quickdraw toggle snatch and attempt a half brake turn.

Yeah, you're just killing freefall time :P

There's some cliffs over a lake where i grew up we used to dive off all the time. They were 75ft (called "Oh Shit" because of the trees you literally jump over) and 94ft (called "Nier" for some reason.) Plenty of time to do a flip, just don't screw it up or it could easily knock you out. I've done front flips but didn't have the balls at the time to try a gainer.

75 or 90 feet can do hell of a lot more than knock you out. but i think we covered this in another thread. TongueCool

Hum....A paramedic here in Ky. jumped from 71 falls, which was a tad under 70 feet at the time of incident. He landed feet first and vertical, but just a few degrees posterior to perfectly vertical. He did not suffer cervical fracture, but had spinal cord injury c1-2 and never made it back to the surface of the lake. think about the rare but possible, then ask yourself if it is gonna interfere with your trip to norway next summer, or that B when it is finally built...etc.

Re: [squirrelgirl] 22m/72ft water jump
I have done 3 water jumps from 100ft off a bridge and I jumped a 72ft mast of a boat into water. I got around 1.5 seconds canopy time (off the boat) and had time to pop the toggles. That was on a Fox 245 VTEC.

Once I knew that my canopy opened I put my feet at a 45 degree angle, feet together. This reduced the distance I went underwater. I got to the surface as quick as I could which did not take long at all.

I would recommend having someone in a boat to rescue you just in case the canopy lands on your head. If the canopy does, find a seam and work your way to the side of the canopy. When climbing back in the boat, try to disconnect your 3-rings first.

I would also check the temperature of the water. If its coldish really try to prepare yourself for full immersion. I found one of my water jumps took my breath away and was somewhat debilitating. Lastly, if you cannot get a rescue boat and the water is warm, get a friend in a wetsuit with a rubber inflatable ring to be waiting in the water just off to the side.

Hope that helps.

Well, another technique that works well from personal experience... tread water backwards keeping tension on your lines. The boat, if under power, moves to your PC. They real in the PC first, canopy next, lines next, you last. If the boat is hard to get into, the guys in the boat can use the lines to assist you up but most importantly you stay out of your lines and the canopy won't get damaged as you get in the boat...
