Hey Older Schoolers

I know there is NC BASE and SC BASE...

But is someone keeping track of just "Carolina" BASE?

I know its not about the numbers, It is about the story and the journey, but having a part in the history of BASE is one of those touchy feeling things I will kinda like when I get to a point where I can't BASE anymore.

Leroy BASE 515 started with the NC BASE numbers when we finaly had a Bridge to jump in the western part of the state. HE was #1 Base 709 is #2 and I'm #3,,,where it goes from there I don't remember.

BASE 700 might know where they stand right now.

I know of 4 jumpable spans in western NC... and up to 6 if you like tempting fate

Thanks for the info, Do you know if there is a combined Carolina Base? I think it would be unique if not, but then again... who cares, right? Lets just go jump...

This was about 5 or 6 years ago,,,,,I also jumped the one that your talking about,,,"The Tempting Fate one",,,,,,,,,,,Highway bridge trees all under it and a small creek at the bottom. It took us 2 hours to hike out of the brush. I think it was Hwy 26 or something like that, got it on video too.

i recently got the M.H. Bridge... did a nice rollover, to land next to the creek. Nice jump.

Nah, that one isn't as bad as the others I was thinking of... I've got two jumps off of the one you are talking about. I did jump it in drought conditions though so I was able to land in a dry"ish" part of the riverbed.

The gnarly ones are upstream of that one by a few miles... 145ft surrounded by trees with a landing area that is rocky, covered with a nice mix of boulders and a random assortment of appliances, bicycles, port-o-johns (yes, port-o-johns), road signs, and anything else a redneck could find to chunk off of it.

I think I did that one too......We parked beside the interstate and walked out on the cat walk,,,it was about 145ft......The cat walk, we had to climb up on the first pillars and then squeeze through a fence on the cat walk itself.

The bigger bridge,,,210ft,,when we went to it we had a boogey,,,,7 jumpers all together DAY BLAZIN.

Jim Guyer even went there with us for that one,,he was 76 years old at the time

A BASE Ambassador is someone who
rolls out the dirty, torn, orange
carpet for a visiting jumper.

Typically including but limited to
objects, place to crash, and for
the more zaney guys I guess
stuff like hookers & drugs.

Both of those guys have helped
me out with jumps and LeRoy
has let me crash at his house
more than once. Of course as
a good guest I bought the
road cokes

but, i agree with Hank... Pauly does kick everyone's ass! just wish that video would show up he said he was gonna send me!


p.s. you're all invited to my terminal tower elevator boogie tomorrow night (full moon). you just have to figure out where i'll be. and it won't be in NC this time.

Well then chances are I know you!!!!!! How about asking nicely with your real name and I might think about it. I think I jumped it too,,,,,,more than 5 years ago was the first time!!!!!

For those of you new jumps don't worry. I am publishing a new book its called "The North Carolina Base Atlas." It will contain pictures of all the sites with driving directions and a list of all the jumpers in the state with their phone numbers and home address. Awesome! I stop jumping for a couple of years, then come back and check the board and it's like nothing changed. Same NC people arguing about the same shit! funny as hell. I don't know know how many people have NC Base now, but about 9 0r 10 did back in 2005 I think. It's not difficult. I've done it twice from 8 different objects, 570 did it nude. Quite the ugly scene

The best reason to come back into the sport, is for the friendship of those who jump.The best friends I have ever known are alll basejumpers. They accept me with alll my faults. I owe them more than I can ever repay. You know who you are!
