International traffic ticket
I got a ticket for not wearing my seatbelt in Norway this summer, and I just assumed not pay it. Now they've sent me two requests for payment ($150 usd).
What do you all think? any reason to pay it? could they sell the debt to a collection agency here in the U.S.?

I've got speeding ticket outstanding in Germany and the Netherlands from years ago.

They sent me a couple of notices and I just ignored them...

Yea, that was the same situation with me in Germany on one of the speed regulated portions of the autobahn, I got popped with one of those automatic cameras and they tracked the rental car down and sent a notice to the guy whose name was on the rental agreement. It took about six months to come through and once he got it we had to have one of the Dutch guys who could read German translate it for us. Laugh

Yea I do plan on returning, but I talked to someone who got busted jumping Trollvegen, never paid, and still travels in and out no problem.

Yep, I read that we'll join and become one group. Obama's reasoning..."we got a hand shake deal with the EU. we get to keep all monies collected on outstanding overseas tickets. we're gonna make a bundle!"

I think he may be on to something here.

Yep, we Americans will all be citizens of the world after January. I am 'Sure' that they will track his ass down for the Norway traffic violation . Obama will forsure make everybody get a one-world Drivers License. We will all be equal in his eyes and IF we are all equal and on a same driving level. Then we can All drive like those Drunken fuck Italians .

In reply to:

I'm always scared driving in Italy too, but I looked into the statistics and the chances are 50% higher of getting killed in traffic in the US compared to Italy (41k kills out of 300m people versus 5k kills out of 60m people). So maybe it's the Americans who should sober up before driving and not the Italians.

No, they cant. But as you were caught in person they have enough evidence that they can get Interpol to collect the ticket (and you don't want that), but the police say they never have done something like that before. You probably won't have any problems getting into Norway again later on either, but the police won't be happy if they stop you again.

My advice is to forget about the ticket, but wear a seat belt and keep the speed limit next time you are in Norway. Then you'll be all fine :)
