say I wanted to move to Russia?
anyone know the logistics?
how difficult is the language switch/barrier?
expensive?
work Visas?
young women?

I got a letter from the feds informing me I really don't have much necessity in the states for another 6 months, and northern Asia seems interesting.
Shortcut
Re: [Calvin19] say I wanted to move to Russia?
escape from custody?

tell us more about the letter from the feds.

Re: [460] say I wanted to move to Russia?
nonono... not in trouble, it was from the FAA.

I am still not elligble for a FAA first class flight medical, meaning I am limited to flying part 103, light sport, Lighter than air, and un-powered aircraft. even though I flawlessly passed a 2 week long neurophysiology battery examination. they need more info. SO, I cannot be a commercial pilot again for another 6 months-forver.

basically, I am sick of this place, sick of the NPS (not for obvious reasons, different story) sick of energy drink companies.
its the smell. I feel, infected by it.

I have a Russian friend that just moved back to Moscow, she told me it would be the worst mistake of my life. and she is Russian.

Even if the radiation does make your hair start growing again, you'll likely lose it when you start Chemo. Just a thought.

in my opinion, the three mile island partial meltdown event is a testament to the safety and robust nature of the modern nuclear power safety systems.

myself, i'm hoping a particular job is going to come through in southern Spain. i need to live outside the U.S. for a while and enjoy some nice European culture.

Prypjat should be still closet area

sorry it was a little late yesterday (probably too late for me Angelic )

A day trip should be no problem, you can book a trip in the "zone" in ukrainian travel agencies.

In attachment Hotspot near chernobyl in 1996 in unit Röntgen....

2. attachment:
if you are interested in nuclear sightseeing you should also take a trip to Lake Karachay.....

15-20 min near the water of the lake and you become an acute radiation sickness.....more then 1-2 hours....death

mayak:

Edit: probably a ukrainian member know it better, then me...

Re: [Waldschrat] Visiting Chernobyl?
Waldschrat,

I don't understand my own obsession, but I have been dreaming about touring the Ukraine Chernobyl for a while.
I bought a counter on ebay for this reason. I dont think it will be very sensitive to my local Rocky Flats weapon trigger manufacture site, but it should be perfect for the red forest.

My main goal for russia is to BASE jump with some of the locals, and meet up with a rope jumping crew I have been i touch with over the years.
the side trip to Chernobyl will be a highlight though.

I don't think they even have ram-air canopies yet. Sure - security's lax. But you have to run from bears after every jump.

Re: [Calvin19] Visiting Chernobyl?
wear a suit of borax, which has boron in it and a thermal neutron capture cross section of ~5000 barns. neutron radiation and subsequent neutron activation is by far the worst type of radiation exposure since it can make something nonradioactive into something that is radioactive. interestingly, there are still scientists/engineers at Chernobyl. also, the local species at Chernobyl have evolved radiation resistance.

we got a -17 F (-27 C) reading as we left the car to hike to paraglide launch last week. and that was 1pm local. that was a cold flight.

NOTE: I did not move to Russia, I do not plan to anytime soon. this was a hypothetical thread. If i did move way way east, it would probably be to Ukraine area. this cold paragliding was west of Boulder, Colorado.
