Hey Gerry 150grn is to big for whitetail move down to 110grn still lots of kick less meat loss
Go for the 10 pointers nothin less

150 grain is perfect for deer. You won't have any meat loss if you hit the deer where you should in the first place,
and if you do by chance have a mediocre shot, a bit more meat loss (there will be some with a 110 as well) but also a way better chance of recovering the animal verses possibly losing it.
Second is that a 150 won't be pushed around as much as a 110 by side winds on long shots. Not sure what you're hunting in (bush or wide open fields) but I myself would go with the 150gr.

Good luck bagging something. Our season just ended and I still have 5 unfilled tags.

what gun yall talkin about, a .308?? 7mm.,?? A friend I work with bought a fnh 5.7 x 28 carbine, kind of a bullpup style assault rifle, and with this tiny round has killled hog and deer with suprising little meat staining.

Talking about a 270 used to hunt with it quite a bit out west. A 110grn was plenty to take down Mule deer and they are bigger than white tail. It is common for people to go bigger to be safe, but, the 110grn will do the job plenty.
I've even watched my uncle poach with a .22

He shot a deer with a PS-90? I dunno if that's genuine Kentucky Redneck, or if it's just plain weird.

They make that thing in .223 also. Called the P2000, I think.

Hi Johnny- This is now a firearms conversation. The poll has been forgotten. Tom had to describe wingloading to Karnowski a couple days ago so no one took the poll seriously.

Now, I personally think a 110 grain bullet is too small for deer...its a varmit load more suitable for coyotes and definately subject to drift at longer ranges.

I say "WE" BAN aNdRew for 5 minutes..

what the hell ? Hey 110 grain wt. bullet is more than enough. I taken many with just 6mm 68 & 80 grainers. It's all correct shot placement anyway. & .22 rimfire in 38-40 grn. Poaches more deer a year than any caliber out there anyway.

I'm pretty sure I could shoot a deer in the eye with my 22-250 and a 40 gr bullet and it would work just fine (for me not the deer), but I was raised on a 30-06 and 150-168 grain bullet for deer. I have some 220 gr round tips that I don't even know what I'd shoot with them?

SEDALIA, Mo. – A hunter bagged a big buck on the second day of firearms season, but the kill caused him a lot of pain. Randy Goodman, 49, said he thought two well-placed shots with his .270-caliber rifle had killed the buck on Nov. 19. Goodman said the deer looked dead to him, but seconds later the nine-point, 240-pound animal came to life.

The buck rose up, knocked Goodman down and attacked him with his antlers in what the veteran hunter called "15 seconds of hell." The deer ran a short distance and went down, and died after Goodman fired two more shots.

Soon Goodman started feeling dizzy and noticed his vest was soaked in blood.

So he reached his truck and drove to a hospital, where he received seven staples in his scalp and was treated for a slight concussion and bruises.

Ya, no sympathy here either. If I weighed 270 lbs. and had horns. I would kick his ass too.
I bet the deer looked dead and (just a guess) his eyes were closed too. When he walked-up on it. I have never in my life seen a deer dead, Or any other dead hunted animal that his eyes were Not wide open. 'Closed eyes' are a warning sign that you better be careful or just pop him again.
