Mine shaft jump
Hi all,

I'll throw it out there from the start - I'm not a base jumper, but I've wanted to confirm a totally insane-sounding story. Someone told me a few years ago that several Russian base jumpers jumped into a vertical mine shaft somewhere in Mexico. Has anyone heard of something like this?

Thanks, and sorry to intrude.

If it looked like this : http://www.troyhartman.com/..._of_the_swallows.htm

then yes, I am sure a few non-Russians have jumped into it too, and for many years. But it's no mineshaft.

strip mining pits are sometimes jumpable, but a vertical mine 'shaft' has never been jumped that I know of. but I know of one that could possibly be jumped, for the brave only. double black diamond all across.

It was but in Russia not in Mexico. Ask viktorchik, he is on my friends list... Something like open-pit mining

Re: [baldas] Mine shaft jump
I checked out one of the deepest mineshafts very recently. It had one of the biggest pithead towers in Europe. Even with that and a double-level cage, the shaft was only approx 6 to 7m wide max. I would be surprised if there is a mine shaft wide enough to do the job.

I have seen programmes on the tele with shorter shafts which was for lowering excavating equipment into tunnels for boring machines.

he said double black diamond didn't he? I'm sure someone will jump it, in fact its probably already been jumped.
