Preparing your family
How many of you have prepared your family for the potential outcome that inevitably faces you every time you jump? I would expect that those of you who are married have shared this with your wife/husband, but maybe not. I, for one, am single, so I don't have someone that I would share all of my "activities" with. I guess my question is this: If you went in, would your parents/friends/loved ones understand or would they be totally shocked that this happened?

Part 2 of my question is: How did you prepare your parents/friends/loved ones for the fact that you may die doing what you love? I know that most of us were skydivers before we were base jumpers so our "people" knew we were involved in a sport that could potentially have a fatal outcome. I think that BASE has a much more substantial risk associated with it than skydiving does and I'm wondering how everyone dealt with this in approaching their people. Thanks for the input.

My wife PCA's me from low stuff and has been there on almost every jump - and all but 1 new object. She's the best ground crew there is.

And the kids stopped being impressed long ago. If I go in, they won't view it any differently than if I croaked kyaking.
