Jeb doesn't seem care what negative people are saying, or he uses that to attain his objective. He has a dream and sets goals to achieve that dream. He uses his past to guide hi future. He lives in the present.

Like Jeb or not, he has a lot of the right attributes in being a successful individual.

I was a bit shocked at the use of the DW footage, but then maybe that's what the wannabe's need to see to slow their asses down.

unless he plans on bleeding from a paper-cut, and rolling his kankles and the vultures finishing him off cause he walked 50 miles on a dirt road to nowheresville

I missed it...
I saw some talented norwegian jumpers fly close to cliffs and also the very famous french jumper but I did not see Jeb fly close to a cliff (probably a good thing because if you fly close to a cliff you need to have some minor talent and practice at least).
I know that Jeb is many jumpers darling but I have to say, I've seen a lot of very shitty documentarys about BASE but this one tops them all.
And from the 30 WS Pilots he knows 6 have already died!?!? WTF??
He only knows 30 WS jumpers???
I just hope this vid will be shown in the US only because I don't want to have to explain to anybody I know that not all BASE Jumpers are like Jeb and not everyone who jumps has a death wish...
For how many years is he talking about this WS landing now??
He should stop to talk so much and start to show something.
What I liked about the vid are the boobs of the reporter and that Jebs sister is better looking then he is... Smile

I am 100% sure a landing with WS will be done, and I am 100% sure Jeb wont be that person. But it is nice to have a dream. I understand him.

That clip of Dwain is horrible. To see a person try to do proximity flying with a stalled WS is always terrible. I hope people who want to do terrain flying with WS watch that clip to learn what not to do.

PS: There are no basejumps with WS done by Jeb on that documentary.

They just need to train an olympic ski jumper to fly a wingsuit and let him land on a mountain with skis. It would be an interesting pay per view event in Vegas to watch Jeb splatter in front of so many people. Call me crazy but wingsuiting with skis on might not work out very well.Crazy

Re: [SabreDave] & [pidge] jeb on espn
Well from the looks of that guy in the link above, maybe they wouldn't even need the wingsuit. Just toss him out of the plane and he could fly his skis. I think even then he would have a better chance of a safe landing than Jeb would trying to land perfectly on some kind of giant slide. Are they going to put some water on there or something? I love the scene from the ESPN video where he is drawing diagrams on the chalkboard in the abandoned warehouse. I didn't realize that super jeb also had a phd in physics.

Time will show if Jeb will land succesfully, and I believe his construction is good enough for the job he is going to do. I will be the first one to gratulate him when he succed! He might not be the best wingsuit flyer in the world, but he have a dream, and the only way to make a dream come trough is to do the homework, get the sponsors, and do it! Good luck Jeb, it is not any harder than a big ski jump, and you know it, it only takes one time to prove them wrong.

I landed like that on my head at 97 meters skijumping, and all I got was a black eye! Landing the wingsuit is possible the way he plan to do it and make it again! You just have to believe in it, and do it right! The more I think about it I am sure Jeb will make it!

Re: [434] & [pidge] jeb on espn
How will believing in himself insure that he lands perfectly at the top of that ramp at a proper angle? Maybe he would survive if he hits the ramp, but that seems pretty difficult jumping from a plane. I think he would just miss it all together and hit the ground.

Post deleted, so here it is!
Jeb would have done it 2 years ago if he had the financial situation to do it! His talk, like you say, is about getting the publicity to have the big sponsors doing it, and believe in it! I would say it is good he have the time to train, and the more you get in to things like this by thinking, the better prepered you will be! 90% of base jumping and doing it right, is about getting your mind in to it, maybe more true before when the knownledge about base was not that much as it is today. Of course ou need the skills to do it as well, and have the right instincts, airfeeling etc. There have been people thinking about landing the wing suit since the day one someone see one, and the dreams have always been out there for any kind of flying, and yes we will see one attempt this winter, I am pretty sure there is more people getting their mind in to it! I personally think Jebs Idea is the best so far. Landing in the strip in Las Vegas with public would not be my style thow. Anyway that is not the importatn Q, The Q is can it be done that way? I say yes! Can he do it again? I say yes.

Re: [434] Post deleted, so here it is!
Well, at least it would certainly be entertaining for the rest of us to see. It would draw some attention to the sport without a doubt. And from then on when normal people thought of base jumping, skydiving, or wingsuit flying, they would remember that terrible splat seen round the world.

Re: [base428] RE: bad ski jumps
What about that stunt man who jumped onto a massive inflated landing mat. Think the jump was from over 100m (328ft) and he reached 90mph.

Only another 30mph and he's got terminal. Apparently he did pass out on the first attempt - bad landing.

Anyways, with a big camera suit you can slow down to just over a 100mph. I would've liked to film that guy with a BASE rig Wink
Shortcut
Re: [rakkers] RE: bad ski jumps
Tip for skilled wingsuiter who feel the urge to land without a canopy:

Call the organizer for a major speedskiing contest. There you will have a perfectly shaped landing strip. Get ready for a tough landing by using full body armour. It is easy to land with a soft impact, but challenge is to keep control during the "break period". It is most likely easy to make some kind of steering/breaking system for your feats. Like a small anchor on both feets. Maybe on hands a well.

First train on sliding fast down a slope with all equipment to get used to the breaking. Also fly a lot of proximity flying for a period to really get ready mentally. Finally go for it.

Two things can happen for a skilled jumper. 1. You land and manage to do a controlled break down. Probably a little bit banged up. 2. You loose control after landing and thumble to the bottom. Likely to be injured, but will survive.

My suggestion is Tignes, France. But that one might be a little to steep. Also. This method is cheap.

Good luck!

Re: [mccordia] & [pidge] jeb on espn
On a cliff with a perfect skijump profile, there is no limits how long a skijumper can jump and he does not need a wingsuit!

It appears the wingsuit only slowed the skijumper down.

Shortcut
Re: [mr_prick] & [pidge] jeb on espn
you have to understand the difference between vertical drop, and a fligh angel! For an skijumper, powder snow would be the death with the speed and the angel of his flight, the same goes by a wingsuit flight. I really doubt Jeb will land face first with no padding of any kind.

Spot on! PdG was focusing on this. His idea from what I can ascertain was that if one has control for takeoff, then one has control for landing. Think about it.

Exactly like that! I seriously didn't know anyone had ever done that before. I would say even if that guy has never even jumped out of a plane before, he would still stand a better chance of surviving it than Jeb. And, as suicidal as Jeb may be, those cliff jumping guys are crazier. We all base jump, but you have to be out of your mind to jump off of a 245 cliff on skis. He didn't even really need skis. He basically did a flip and landed flat on his face at the end

Hey Ash,

You seem to be under the impression that if Jeb were to somehow miss the entrance to his tube, that from that point he'll simply impact the ground.

However, the tube entrance is designed to be high enough above the ground that in the event of a miss, that a conventional opening is possible in the remaining available altitude.
