What about snow/ice situation? should i bring some "piggis" under my boots?
Last DEC/JAN there was quite a lot of snow. Main exits and hikes had clear paths to them but were quite slippery especially on mornings. Some jumpers used small crampons that you can buy from local Intersport for example but we did allright without. Your call.
Even in March of this year , there was still a fair bit of snow up on the trails...as suggested above. Doable in regular boots....but the one of us who had the sense to buy some of those mini crampons was alot more comfortable , and less tired.....especially on some of the steeper/icier bits. As I remember they folded up quite compact as well....if you didn't want to jump in them.
in other words...i can`t expect find the main trails to the exit`s...i jumped only two places...high nose and yellow O,
It is impossible to not find the trails in the BASE disney land. The "trails" look like highways in winter... But use the crampons, it would look terrible on video if you slip of the exit.
no no no, you're wrong. it actually does look quite funny. especially when wingsuits are involved. hence i always wear crampons, even in may because then it's muddy. poses almost the same risk as snow. i want to look cool, not funny.
Any time. :) During winter the days are shorter and obviously there is snow, ice and minus degrees but if you can handle with that you get nice calm weather, clean air and clean white snow on landing areas. On summer as the days are longer you have more jumping time but during days it tends to get quite windy and turbulent as sun heats up the valley.
well the good news is im leaving these islands december 2cnd for good, so i should have wider access to hot air balloons and helos. and finally a SHITLOAD of antennas. i only have one A jump and damn it was scary. and fun.
try it at home (to put on tracking pants with your crampons on) and you will find out it is very easy to rip your pants. Also this would give a good vid: Someone loosing balance while putting on the tracking pants because the crampons got caught in the pants, then falling over the exit with the pants halfway down...
