Which other thread? All I've got is this French press report, forwarded by a French jumper: a 40 year old jumper hit the wall on a E jump (approx 1200ft) . The press report is pretty vague.

Le "windsuit", loisir en développement ces dernières années, consiste à s'élancer d'une falaise équipé de petites voiles entre les jambes et les bras, de planer un moment puis de déclencher son parachute pour atterrir au sol. Ceux qui l'exercent sont en général passés par le "base jump", dont les adeptes sautent dans le vide sans voile avant d'activer leur parachute.

The news report I saw placed it on November 7th, but the original poster had placed it on the 9th.
Outside the US, it's normal to write dates as DA.MO.YR. Inside the US, for whatever reason, we've inverted the order of the first two and typically use MO.DA.YR. Since the original poster was from outside the US, I assume he meant November 9th.

it's interesting that the french report speaks of the sport of "windsuit" (apart from the obvious spelling issue), the participants of which have "generally passed through base-jumping" to arrive at wingsuit

And first become a skydiver! There is no terms as BASE jumpers everywhere in europe, and we are working on mountain flying as the new modern term for cliff jumping!
