Howdy.
I am currently involved in a first jump course thats taking a little longer to complete than expected due to school, babies and such. I would like to know how soon and how late in a year can one go to idaho for a long weekend and have a relatively good chance that the weather is conducive to a first timer like me. I know that it is impossible to predict the weather but is March/April too early and October/November too late.

You can go there anywime you want. However, If I was a first timer, or almost, I would wait till it is warmer. The bridge and BASE will almost positively be there for a long time. Patience isn't a bad thing. Oh and why I think that is simple. its fucking cold there most of the time, with the Snake River freezing its shores, the ground hard as rock, and the boats (in case of a water landing) pretty much gone. And then you add in weather to your trip, I would wait. In fact I will not return to twin until at least april,most likely May. But that has more to do with the fact I am aiming at 50+ days of snowboarding this season.

true that. i was there last march and it was FUCKING COLD. i look forward to the day i can go to the bridge during summer time. hopefully this new year

Come anytime. Just CONTACT THE LOCALS so you can get the scoop on the best way out of the canyon based on current conditions.

We jump that bitch year-round in all conditions. Just be smart about it.

If you want tourist base conditions...wait until May-ish.

do you guys offer free helicopter lifts by chance? i enjoy base jumping but im really not into hiking and/or putting any effort into a hike.

so... I guess the river does not white cap until 25kts from the east, but 15 from the west? how could a river moving at .3m/sec cause that much discrepancy on deepwater wave break?
