Old Pack Jobs and Heading Performance
Curious what people think about the effects of old age on a pack job?

I jumped a packjob that was 2 years old at this bridge day. All I did was convert it from slider down to a slider up. It opened perfectly on heading. But it did put me in the water, though I doubt that was the effect of the age.

Personally, I don't think age would make a noticeable difference.

I jumped a 2 year old pack job slider off. It opened on heading and just as fast as the other rig I had packed an hour before. It had been stored in my house in a controlled environment.

I like old packjobs, not jailbait ones, seems to me it would lend itself more to a staged deployment instead of pup tent deployment right off the back!! I find dry ice keeps the packjob in a nice flat rectangle and provide nice reefing to save my brittle bones...:)

ive folded my pc when it sat packed too long. not sure if it matters but cant hurt. pc hesitation is a scarry ass situation id like to avoid cuz we do alot of low stuff.

I am quite certain that the PC material ZP vs F111 would make a lot more difference than the time it has been packed.

that said, if you look at Poynters manual, the first 30 days have the most affect on openings. So a PC would be a sensible choice to repack as close to the jump as possible.

Time & Performance

Yeah I have heard/read about the minuscule
difference in opening times from pack jobs
that have been old and fresh...

Of course I have had almost no experience
with any pack jobs more that are older than
about 120 days old or so Tongue

However, when it comes to PCs I always
leave them unpacked until the very last
moment for obvious reasons!!
