Randy Harrison Information
As many of you know, Randy Harrison, BASE 36, was recently injured in a skydiving accident.

Randy’s condition is stable, but he will require lengthy rehabilitation. During this time, he will be unable to work. Any financial assistance with living or medical expenses is greatly appreciated.

Donations can be made to:

Randy Harrison Rehabilitation Fund
Acct # 2387389
Hills Bank and Trust Company
1401 S. Gilbert St.
Iowa City, IA 52240

Donations can also be sent directly to Randy’s wife:

Shirley Harrison
1713 S Avenue
South Amana, Iowa 52334

Note that the 'S Avenue' does not stand for "south," it is just "S".

I believe that Randy is presently at the inpatient rehabilitation facility at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. If anyone has a current address to send cards and well wishes, please post it here.

Also, if anyone has updates on his condition, please add them here as well.

As always, the best source of direct information is Rick and Joy Harrison. Their new contact info (after Hurricane Ike left them homeless) is in this thread.

Thanks!

Re: [TomAiello] Randy Harrison Information
Thanks Tom for posting the info about Randy. Randy has been transferred to the St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for inpatient rehabilitation therapy. I will get the whole address tomorrow and post it in response to Tom's post, but his room number is Room 608.
He is having a lot of trouble with short term memory and often forgets he's in the hospital. He still has no memory of he landing or even the downdraft just before he hit. Especially at night, he suffers from dillusions as to where he is and why he can't go home to his dog. His emotions are all over the place right now. He will be receiving speach therapy, physical therapy for his ankle and heel, plus his right side muscles in his arm and shoulder blade. We think he severed the rest of his old worn out rotator cuff, but not sure yet. His occupational therapy will include things like getting into a mock up of a car they have to make sure he remembers how to drive, plus just trying to return him to being Randy again. Anyway, Joy and I want to thank all our friends in the world of BASE for the great messages we have received. Anyone wishing to e-mail me, I am at cliffleaper@aol.com.
Thanks.
Rick Harrison, BASE 38, and Joy.

The address of the hospital where Randy Harrison is located is as follows:

St. Luke's Hospital, 1026 A Ave NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406-3026 Tel. 319/369-7211
Room 608

I'm sure cards from BASE jumpers would help him come back to reality. Thanks a bunch!!!

Re: [NorskAir] Randy Harrison Information
Sorry I haven't put an update on the web site, but I'm up here in Iowa with Randy and he's doing much better. He still has therapy a couple days a week for his physical therapy, occupational and speach therapy. I will post an update on the site.
Thanks

Re: [wwarped] Randy Harrison Information
Randy is still improving and we just spent a few days in Atlanta and North Carolina seeing family. He walks slowly with a limp from his heal and his right knee and may have surgery to remove a few bone chips under the knee. He is still not working but may soon be able to return to work. Walks like an old man so I kid him it's about time after all these years that he gets to walk like me and others with old injuries. Only bone he ever broke before now is a wrist landing on top of a parking garage in Atlanta with Earl Redfern back in the 80's. Thanks for the concern, and I do think he will make a good recovery. Maybe this is a good reason for us stubborn old jumpers to put a helmet on once and awhile.
