Re: [nicrussell] I don't feel so, ....uugghhhh!!!!!!!
My third jump which was 16 years after my 2nd!
I was at 1800 feet on an antenna with two other guys. First guy jumped and I volunteered to go last. No particular reason. At that point I was only moderately nervous. We had a radio and a fanny pack we were supposed to jump down with. I told Marty to give it to me and I would jump with it. I started to fasten the fanny pack around my waist when my hand brushed against the pilot chute on my leg strap. Big Gulp! I had forgotten I was jumping a leg strap throw out! I mean I knew I was, but I totally spaced out. No emoticon is available to express the oh fuck, oh shit feeling that I almost killed myself. Marty realized it too.
I just kinda mumbled that maybe he should jump with it. He quietly agreed that maybe it was better if he jumped it. Nothing more said. He just took it, straped it on and jumped.
