Blue painters tape
Okay, A LOT of people are having issues/dilemmas with using tape because it doesn't tear well when its wet...

...how does it get wet while you are packing?

A lot of people are not concerned in the least, it's only a few people posting on this board.

I agree, has there been anyone who has experienced a hangup because of this in normal conditions? I understand the theory behind not wanting to use it, but id like to see some evidence, as in the black rubber band incidents.

See my post here for an account: http://www.basejumper.com/...post=2893155#2893155

Note that the tape I was using was not wet when I packed, but the air was very humid.

I'm not totally against tape now - I think it's just as good an option as a tailgate. However, the experience shattered my "the tape always breaks" mentality.

Both tape and tailgates have their shortcomings. Pay as much attention to detail as possible.

Re: [inzite] Blue painters tape
So, why not use some simple paper, with a piece of tape holding it?

Or, use those strips of sticky paper that you stick on VCR tapes?

Are you really worried about a piece of masking tape holding the control lines together, while 280 sqft of canopy is opening without a slider?

On inspection I found that the four layers of tape had effectively melded together. The tape itself was almost as hard as a rock (no exaggeration). I could not physically tear it with my hands and the only way I could remove it was by peeling back each of the layers.

if I could not tear the tape by hand, I'd certainly be concerned if the canopy could...

but I think this discussion should be in the other thread!
