if anybody knows of a mentor in TN or near nashville i'd really like to talk to them. i'd actually like to talk to just about anybody with significant experience at this point. i'v been skydiving for 2yrs and have 70 jumps as of right now. i'm very interested in making this happen and hope my request is taken seriously! i'd be willing to ground crew btw. not sure wuts involved in that but i'm down! not scared of an arrest. i'm willing to put the effort in if at all possible. thanks for any and all help

just throwing this out there...

70 jumps in 2 years sounds dangerous. more important than anything (IMO) is currency. you'll have your work cut out for you, because that is not a serious interest in the way i'm reading your post.

if you make some connections at your local DZ you will know where to go. the internet is not a suitable substitution.

but, what the hell do i know?

first i'l say thanks for the reply and concern. it probly doesnt look serious due to timing of sum stuff that i dont hav time to post and it doesnt really matter that much cuz 70 jumps is still 70 jumps no matter how u look at it. on the other hand i can assure u when i say i'm serious about anything i am just that! i know i shouldnt go out base jumpin this weekend or in the next cpl months but my goal is to start my research and start "training" asap to get as much knowledge as possible BEFORE i'm actually ready to do my first base jump! i think i'm going about this the right way and i'm def doing it the way that makes me feel the safest. my dz peeps dont know alot of base connections so rather than go out with a lack of i figured i'd turn to the www for contacts and info. i am serious when i say thanks for the "concern" tho.

thank u sir for the short cuts to reading material. i hav read more stuff on base than in the previous 29yrs of my life all added together! i'm still reading and will continue to read and try to gather as much knowledge as i can. i'm not tryin to go all out base in the next three days!!!! i hope everybody understands that isnt my intention!!! i'm paying my dues by starting my research and reading and trying to find sum people to gc for. and i'm going to start trying to sit in on as many reserve repacks as i can. and getting as many skydives as i can. wut i'm tryin to say is this is my beginning of base. it will be slow. it will be respectful to the sport and people of the sport. it will be as safe as possible. this is my start. meet me now or later cuz i'm serious and i plan to be in this for the long haul and i wana proove to all the people in the sport i deserve to be in it with them.

Not to shy you away from the sport, but I was in a bit of a rush to do everything in prarachuting, Including BASE and it nearly took my life at an early point in the sport. Like you, I was around 100 skydives when I started, but slowed down after a close call. Just be patient, take the right steps in skydiving to prepare yourself, and learn from the right people. As far as a mentor goes...goodluck! When I started back into BASE again a little over four hundred skydives and 7 BASE jumps, looking for a mentor gets one response and one response only. Go take a BASE course! No one wants to be responsible for training someone anymore and the experience level and training available from Apex, Morpheous, Snake River ect. with "practice" off a bridge with water under it is a little safer than someone slinging you off a three hundred PCA style, so people just won't do it anymore. Also, consider the Black List as we call it. You learn from the wrong people or the wrong way and other jumpers will Black label you no matter how conservative you are. The BASE world and especially these forums can be very harsh so take the right steps and be careful about the politics. Blues Skies...from someone that doesn't know shit!
