Hi does anyone out there know the law relating to jumping in Yosemite, and in particular the consequences/ severity of jumping, ie fine? loss of gear? jail? deportation!?

I dont think they are very good objects anyways. Havent heard of anyone jumping at Yosemite, unless you could all those tourists falling off the top.

by googling "base jumping yosemite" I received a lot of relevant information. searching this site might lead you to one or more efforts to change NPS rules.

being BASE, nothing is coordinated. different jumpers approach the risk differently. many here disagree with the legal interpretations of the NPS and do not feel the punishment fits the crime.

at least one NPS ranger has stated that the policy is aggressive prosecution. they intend on making it as uncomfortable as possible.

your best source of information is to consult a lawyer.
as far as I know, all your possible punishments HAVE been used somewhere by the govt.
