661 helmet sizing
Plan to buy a SixSixOne Bravo Full Face Cycling Helmet.
My head is 56,5cm but looking for tight adjusted helmet, should I take S or M?
Could not find a store here, plan to buy on-line.
Thanks.

I bet the Small 21 1/4"- 22" (54-56cm) will be a better choice.

damn... the banter between me and 420 was removed so I deleted the part that started it all. Tongue

good luck helmet shopping. try to find a bike shop to at least try one on. I've had little luck in the past without just trying it on first.

I removed several off topic posts from this thread. I also got some useful stuff along the way. My apologies.

I'm going to paste back in this bit posted by Hookitt:

Last time I tried on a 661, the suggested size was a looser than a desired fit by more than 1/2 a centimeter. half a centimeter is about -->|-|<-- so chances are it's close enough to 56.

I wear a medium in most other helmets, like giro- but a medium is way too small for me in 661 so I wear their larges- This is in ski-specific helmets however, and their return policy sucks if you are ordering it online btw...

I normally jump a Giro Remedy helmet and other jumpers sometimes make fun of how large it is......until they whack their skull on a bad landing. Even the paragliders make fun of my big helmet. But deep down inside, I realize they're just jealous.

Enjoy your full-face helmet. Hopefully others will realize that skydiving helmets offer ZERO crash protection.

Just ordered a Giro Remedy for GoFast. It's the least planetary-sized of the real functional full-face helmets. Gonna top-mount a camera on that bitch too. Straight up ghetto style.

Anybody who's more concerned with aesthetics than protection needs a good object strike.

What's a planetary-sized helmet?
And how do you mount a camera on a Giro Remedy?

1) -2 for missing the Mike Myers reference.

2) Duct tape, bailing wire, Copenhagen, some sort of sheep secretion, and a little help from a drunk midget with a Craftsman roll-box.

No, that truly sounds TRAILER PARK style.

Actually fitting a low-profile piece of very firm rubber formed to the top with a stroboframe QR mount bolted through high-speed drilled holes in the helmet.

Backed up with a piece of 1/8" webbing fed under the whole thing and a QR snap. I'll post the steps and some photos of the process, even if it's an abortion. Shouldn't be though - the engineering's solid.

In summary:

Giro Remedy - $84.00 (Sierra Trading Post)
Rubber base - $2.00 (Home Depot)
Stroboframe QR - $35.00 (eBay)
Nylon webbing w/QR snap - $6.00 (REI)

Harvey burning into the wall at RG under 6 line twists without breaking his jaw...and capturing it all on video = Priceless.

make sure you back the stroboframe up good with the strap

I know one videographer who has had two stroboframe releases and another few who will only use a stroboframe with a good back-up strap.

Also, you want the strap to be able to clamp the stroboframe down a bit or you will get camera shake due to the play in the stroboframe.

I've had a stroboframe before and at $35 it's a bargain, but for BASE I would spend the money and get a Liquid flatlock because it's so nice and secure and low profile.

Does anyone have weight comparison data between the mentioned helemts?
I'd like to know SixSixOne Bravo vs. Giro Remedy and also Giro Remedy vs Giro Remedy CF (carbon fiber).

I finally bought the Giro Remedy. Helmet is big but protection looks good.
Giro mentions 1050g, but did not check weight.

Three holes, some bolts, and some locktite. Very solid. Pics minus the back up strap.

Baddabing.
