Re: [jeb] Journey to the Center

I can't hear the sound on this machine. I'm assuming that's China. All I want to know is did you jump the Arch?

Re: [RiggerLee] Journey to the Center
Didn't jump the arch but did jump the deepest vertical cave on earth. The cave is 666 vertical meters deep. Very remote and very dangerous. It had a landing area strait out of hell...

Re: [jeb] Journey to the Center
The trailer looks just amazing.

Am I wrong or are the numbers of the Athlete profiles kinda outdated?
Shortcut
Re: [Hausse] Journey to the Center
Those numbers are from 4 years ago :) So yes, they are out dated :) But that was when this happened. Takes a long time to get projects finished sometimes :) But this one was worth the time and effort :)
Shortcut
Re: [jeb] Journey to the Center
Oh okay I thought I had some quite a bit higher numbers in my head. I would have never expected a project to take this long, but watching the trailer, it was sure worth the wait.

Re: [jeb] Journey to the Center
hope any body that is planning on watching this video is not panning on watching very much base footage. plan on listening to jeb talk abut picking up rattle snakes and fetish of death.

Big props to dougs and the european bad ass tracker. Nice solid jumps. it was great watching dougs nearly hyperventilate before jumping. it give a real sense of how crazy a jump it is.

Whats next Jeb outer space?

Here is a pic from down the cave, don't be fooled by the sweet looking grass. It's just hidden sharp rocks...
Edit; After consulting with "Grand Master Cave" is seems i was a bit quick putting that pic out there. It was from another cave... Just enjoy the movie Cool

Re: [jeb] Journey to the Center
Congrats, very nice footage guys!!, and the place...!!, what an amazing monster!!, just remind me a very, very close sensation to a similar jump in Amazon Jungle, SarisariƱama cave.
Congratulations again!

Realizing the group your marketing toward, I can appreciate the sensationalism you put in to your films. The cave looks awesome of course, however, I am curious how you determined the cave is 666 evil meters deep?

tim, that's easy. use a yard stick and multiply your findings by 0.9144

Journey to the Center
Good footage and great editing
techniques - especially for the
purpose of marketing it to an
audience of non-jumpers!!

By the way, who is the jumper
with the cap and goatee?
Shortcut
Re: [hookitt] Journey to the Center
It's in the Guinness book of world records for the highest tight rope walk ever performed. The true hight is actually 666.2 meters from the cable to the river below. Plus figuring out how high things are is pretty easy with technology these days :)

Re: [jeb] Journey to the Center
The tight rope walk.

Here's the one I was talking about. It's the record you speak of. It's only a few meters different but wasn't quite as evil.

That's Paul Fortun. 434 on this forum and organizer of World BASE Race. One of the old timers here in Norway.

Re: [johenrik] Journey to the Center
Thanks for the 411.

Re: [jeb] Journey to the Center
Can't wait to see this! As an amateur videographer and fledgling BASE jumper, this would be my ideal lifestyle. When Iiro last posted something about it, he mentioned entering it into some film festival. I'm attending the Kendal Mountain film festival later this year. Any chance I'll see it there on a big screen in all its HD glory?

Re: [goking] Journey to the Center
For sure, 666 sounds more interesting than 662. That is just part of the media circus. Wink

Then, with 3 jumpers attached, altitude will be less then without the 3 jumpers. Take your pick.

Re: [Ronald] Journey to the Center
for the first jumper. the second jumper would exit slightly higher, and the third slightly higher than that. A measurable difference in the jump, probably not.
Shortcut
Re: [nicrussell] Journey to the Center
jeb and douggs seems to exit at the same height...because jeb do the swing

Re: [Ronald] Journey to the Center
Check attached pic of a carved stone done after the cave expedition (English spyes for USA), and before the high walking Adili!

Re: [434] Journey to the Center
Nice. That's pretty cool. Where is the stone located? Apparently this is the large metal visitor information plague that's mounted in front of the cable that goes accross the cave. Either way, it's a big cave/hole.

Re: [hookitt] Journey to the Center
Wow That book is new for me, and was not there 3 years ago! This stone was after the Guard house on the entrance to the stairs!

Have you been there recently?
Shortcut
Re: [434] Journey to the Center
No, I watched the trailer and was intrigued so I started searching.
Shortcut
Re: [hookitt] Journey to the Center
Another search revealed this:

These cross sections are made in directions to best indicate river systems for geologists. Different cross-sections of the sites may reveal more verticality.
