hey guys ive been skydiving for 2 years now and have 300 jumps, im looking at getting into base jumping. what would be the best way to get into base?? (base school, mentor) thanks for ur suggestions.

read, study, research, come to the table reasonably self-educated, self-reliant, etc. be ready to work. no one will give it to you. it will greatly boost the BASE learning curve. as this topic re-appears regularly, it seems like you need to explore this site and get your game on.

Not a great deal of jumpers in Melb, try posting on min forum above. Or make the effort to come to the next video night. Get in touch with the guys in the board by PM and ask them about things. There have been one or two newbies in Oz come back from courses and doing (or trying to) some really bad stuff in regards to buring our sites, people are very suss to new guys at the moment, you will need to prove you arent like that. Not hard if you actually aren't like that. Plus Aussie sites are pretty hard compared to the rest of the world, but we are used to them. Whatch the video strike1 on skydivemovies.com Although that guy had 7 seconds to turn it around and didnt......

Dumb people everywhere.

I work in the film industry in SA and most of the investors are Yanks. Without Americans I wouldn't get paid.... We would all be wearing 19th century clothing ... There probably wouldn't be any BASE jumping as we know it... et caetera...

As for the thread going off course I also think it's outrageous the mods havn't split it yet. I suggest writing a formal Email to the owner of the site pointing out this very fact and think a fee be taken off the moderator's respective salaries for this negligence.
