so the 4 of us go check it out .
then we gear up in the hall way
and out we went . while my crew climbed over the glass wall I Gave a little speach. "we are the NYC bse jumpers " No buddie calls any buddie till were gone" I quickly had 20 Iphones and digital cameras in my face . and once agian i am or should I say we were super heros .

Id like to thank everyone that can out tonight to shoot video and do ground crew for my new TV show.

I've been a bit neutral about the jump. I'll give maggot style points for the jump, but it illustrates how easily attention can generate hostility towards us all.

If someone came and jumped a building i lived in i would probably think it was pretty cool and would be even more grateful if they did it so i could see.

Iget that it may have now put limits on his roof access and shit but i am sure he has mates who BASE jump and understand to do a 'B' that it means jumping of someones building. Its not like jumpers are going to check every building to make sure someone who is a skydiver/base jumper does not live there.


I feel for the guy that they all know he is a jumper and that kind of sucks but he probably has a good story to tell.


On the flipside, I reackon the person who did it is going to be arrested and charged. Not saying Peter would dob anyone in but it would not be hard for any USA government officals to cease records of i.p. address's from this site for crimes comitted now it has been sold to an american company and is no longer a south african website.
Also makes you wonder if this american company will knowingly allow illegal crimes talked about in these forums knowing that they could be held liable for crimes being planned and talked about over a website that their business owns.

Makes you wonder if the community in these BASE forums should start being a bit more careful in what is said in the forums. Maybe i just have an active immagination or watch to many movies but if i was a cop and i wanted to find out who jumped a certain building this is the first place you would come.

I don't live in New York, but last I heard some jackass politician was suggesting that it be a crime to jump off anything more than 12 feet high in New York City, but it takes a while for a law to become reality, so I'm guessing at the time of this jump there was no such law in place.

it wasn't THAT bad. if you note, most of negative replies were people with very low skydives or SUPER low (less than 20) who have not jumped for years. I bet they still will sympathize more with you if you get busted than most people who have never made a parachute jump

the only thing that sucked about that jump is there were not enough girls on the roof but other than that it kicked as.

You were stunned?? I have been in the sport 8 years (dont think my jump number count of 2 might be a bit off that i display) and i was stunned at the reaction. I cant believe that they judged BASE jumpers like that.
I have always thought of BASE jumping as the ultimate level and sport i hope to throw my life away and take up full time at some point. I really cant believe the reaction that you guys received. I do chalk it down to regular users all sticking up for a regular user of dropzone.com but i personally dont think i have ever met a jumper who would have a go at a BASE jumping jumping off a building Thats just fucking crazy!


I always have been told that you are responsible for your words that you post on dropzone.com so the poster asking for a whole thread to be taken down and not getting the reply that you are responsible for what you write, thats a new one. One must wonder why it was allowed to be taken down.

Not saying most/all members are, but the nickname "dorkzone" is somewhat appropriate to some of the members. They are intolerant of things that are different from what they know. They rush to judgment without all the facts and have no intention of learning the truth before they spout off. Rushing to the aid of a fellow dorkzoner, I don't particularly give a shit because I think it (the thread over there) was quite funny and enlightening to the perception of BASE jumpers by skydivers. I also am happy I don't have to log in over there and read stupid shit from skydivers about BASE who lurk the former BASE zone. we receive a lot less crossover traffic, and in turn less bullshit from our pansy ass sister sports general community. And a lot of them are hypocrites for even beginning to talk about BASE in a bad light, yet they bitch and whine when anything "skydiving" related hits the street with all the facts wrong or close to wrong. Skydivers need to get a fucking grip on the fact that BASE is going to be more and more around, much to the chagrin of old timers, and they need to adjust their minsdet, as do we a little, in order for both sports to continue in relative harmony.

the more i BASE jump, the more I explore other flying sports, the more i find that there really is VERY little in common between BASE and skydiving skills, motivation, and personalities. The longer I BASE, skydive, and explore other flying sports the more I realize that the people in all of them are all the exact same egotistical arrogant ass holes.

I've always scrathced my head how "SOME" skydivers can be so NON-BASE. Their panties get all knotted when a whuffo tells them skydiving is stupid or crazy, yet the moment they are out of their comfort-zone (two canopies, an AAD, a wind sock, a manicured landing area and a noisy fucking plane), they revert right back to the whuffo herd-mentality...hypocrisy at its finest!!!

I really laughed how the pansey that started the dorkzone thread was all upset because he has to keep his skydiving private, yet everyone in his building knows he skydives? WTF? How do they know if it's so hush hush? Does he live at a DZ? No. Cause the fucking tool tells everybody who will listen and rides the elevator with his rig on his back for all to see.

He'll really cry when he learns the lock from the rooftop was taken to a 24 hour locksmith and keys made for it...so that eveyone who visits NYC has a "for-sure" B lined up in the future. The key is hidden in the "exit" sign over the rooftop door.

Keep in mind the particular group in question. They are exceptionally ate-the-fuck-up.
