You can book a room or have a drink in that bar also if you aren't rich! The important thing is to have your rig on just before the bill...

If you aren't rich head down to the Khao San Road. It's the backpackers hangout with shitloads of bars, shops and guesthouses. Also a good place to pick up tickets for both internal and international travel.
