Missing Fingers
Anyone out there base jumping without two hands of 5. I was recently wounded overseas and im probly going to end up losing my pinky and ring finger on my right hand. i already plan on moving my boc to a left side pull out besides that i dont think it should be anything too differnt as long as my thumb index and middle finger make it past surgery tomorrow. just trying to find someone out there that can give me some pointers on gimp jumping or if you know any skydivers just tryin to find some to talk to about what they went through getting used to jumping after an injury like mine.

Re: [freedomed] Missing Fingers
Damn man,

Really sorry to hear about that... what happened? I don't know anyone personally but I have heard of a few people who always pitch left-handed. Let me know if you are coming back early and we will go get you current again! Wink

I know there's an Israeli jumper who's missing a whole hand. I haven't heard from him in a while, but maybe somebody has contact info.

Re: [freedomed] Missing Fingers
Thank you for your service sir.
Really sorry about your injury!!

As for your question, the guy who did all
of my coach jumps for my A license and
taught me to sitfly has only 1 good hand.
This guy has 1600+ skydives but 0 BASE.

His right hand is involuntarily closed and
does not work real well, so he pitches w/
his left and has replaced cutaway pillow
with a cutaway ring.

On a sunset sitfly him and I are about 3'
away from each other when his sandal
comes off, he snatched it with his left,
went to his back, and spent 10 seconds
transferring the shoe from his left to his
right, pitched, and landed with both shoes.

From your description I think you will have
more dexterity than him and should be good.

I wish you a speedy recovery!!

Correct. Mr. 619 - just came back jumping lately. i will try to make him appear here, although he is heading for a long time vacation.

I have a nother friend actually that skydives (no base though) with missing 2 right fingers without any problem. jumping a regular rig.

Re: [freedomed] Missing Fingers
From two separate injuries to my right hand, I have a missing ring finger and a permanently disfigured index finger, bent palmward more than 90 degrees. After a 40 year hiatus I made my second base jump at Bridge Day 2005. I went handheld, of course, and using my left hand was no problem at all for me. I have never used a BOC, and am in no position to advise. In my skydiving days we used ripcords.

I'm very sorry for your injuries. My sincere thanks for helping to make this world a better and safer place.
