Swiss Mushroom
Is that site-naming? Apologies if it is, I'm sure somebody will fix it.

Anyway, I assume people know the one I'm talking about, it's somewhere near Grindelwald in Switzerland.

I'm going to be in that area in August, and the Mushroom has always been on my list of most beautiful objects.

However, the trip itself is not for BASE purposes, so I'd just be sneaking one in. Which puts some pressure on my schedule.

My question is, is there a helicopter operation running that can bring BASE jumpers to the top for a fee? Or is it hiking only these days?

I know, I'm a lazy ass, why don't I hike, and maybe if I'm pressed for time I shouldn't be BASE jumping, yadda, yadda, yadda. I've considered all of that. But I'm really just passing through for one day, so if I can make it happen, great. If not, that's okay too. No pressure.

Thanks,

It is hiking only exept you hire a professional camera crew and a mountain guide...

But the hike is not that bad and you have to get up early anyway. So if weather is ok you can be back in Grindelwald in the morning.

Lots of snow at the moment.
Schilthorn (a nearby peak) reports 262cm of snow at 2360m msl.
Exit is 3100m on the north face of the Eiger.

Crampons may be useful...

Remember last year a Swiss army crew got killed in an avalanche in June or July, not far from that area (but higher in altitude).

Air Glacier - helicopter operator - will drop you at the exit, safe, fast and effortless.

Otherwise, with an alpine guide it is a safe and easy climb/walk. Leave early in the morning and back by lunch time.

No, Air Glacier will not fly you up anymore. As I said, only if a professonal camera crew is there with you.

Thanks michi. And that is good so.

A wall jumped with a heli lift for me is like not jumped and doesn't count as a base jump

(I'd rather jump direct from the heli, its more fun ;-)).

The way up is part of the game!!

Ethical and sport aspect (compared to the spirit of free climb but you pulled every fixed point).

A wall jumped that doesn't count as a BASE jump is an oxymoron...
