Doppler Radar
Found a great tower with one catch... there is a doppler radar about 40-50ft away from the tower and another 50 ft up. It radar is about 12-15ft diameter.

It's not a place I'm going to be hanging around but I don't really know that much about them. Do they even really even present a hazard for a short exposure time?

I've done a bit of research but can't seem to find anything useful. Would like to hear from someone who understands it better. Thanks!

Re: [matt_f_001] Doppler Radar
I know the one you're talking about. It's about 5 minutes from my house, but I haven't messed with it. There's just way too many other nice jumps around here to risk it (for me anyways..). I've heard stories about guys jumping it and ending up with headaches, missing patches of hair and waking up the next day with scabs behind their ears .

Here's the old thread where I asked about it.

Good luck with it..

Crane jumps tomorrow! See you downtown..

Re: [matt_f_001] Doppler Radar
Has anyone ever gone up on a tower and actually measured the amount of radiation being emitted?

yes. osha, and probably fcc. i bet you could find that info, if you looked.

Re: [avenfoto] Doppler Radar
my recent wikipedia search claims that a majority of them aren't very high power. so it's probably fine. however, i had based my original statement of "AVOID" on a local doppler radar system that transmits megawatts.
