Edit because Andrew already used the phrase *a while back* and didn't want to sound redundantly repetitive.

NOT intentional, it was a feather/stall/blade pitch control malfunction, IN a wind storm. they knew it was malfunctioning, and brought the experts to it. since it was making so much noise it drew the public as well.

I dont know how correct I am, but i counted 200 rpm was the speed at failure. with the 70meter blade diameter, we are talking 800m/second plus tip speed.

While you have your slide rule out, I wonder how much electricity was being generated by a 70 meter windmill spinning at 200rpm? I bet the owners earned some mad carbon credits before that thing imploded

considering standard RPM is 20, probably a lot. even weirder is those things, when not under wind power, USE not much less than 1 KWH.

THAT is pretty cool. Im severely impressed. the gait at the end is pretty sick, I cant wait unother few years. a robotic ridable horse wounds pretty cool. i HATE horses. but if it does not poop.
