Opened my first object
I opened my first object this week. It is a 340' freestander. This was my 12th B.A.S.E. jump and the three of us that jumped had a combined 35 jumps total. It was a sweet jump that was more than a year in the making. Two weeks prior we went there a bit too early and the dude who lives next door showed up out of nowhere as we approached the fence. He just stopped and staired. I would love to know what he was thinking. I felt like I had just been busted jacking off at my Grandma's house on ThanksGiving Day. We let it cool off and went back and got it a little later this time. Not a big deal compared to what some of you are doing out there but it was a good way to start the month. Have a good Summer everyone.

Congrats Bro!!

Coincidentally I opened my first object recently
AND it too was my 12th BASE jump. However,
mine was a solo and urban and scary and fun!

Re: [Moline] Opened my first object
There is no beer in BASE. You must have this confused with some other sport.

BASE & Beer
Always heard/read the tradition was newbies
buy beer when they are learning to pack and
ground crewing but once they actually do a
BASE jump it is over.

This makes sense since almost all participants
come from that other sport... and well many
really experienced skydivers are past 'Firsts'
and have their 'Gold Wings' exemption.

Also learned after a bandit jump that a tall-boy
on the ride home is called a 'Road Coke' Wink

They're called 'Road Pops' up north, and they're used for just about everything Tongue
