I am into powered paragliding and came across a web page wanting to discern itself from BASE jumping, but did so in a different sort of way.

You know the public has always had trouble differentiating all the "canopy" sports. The media fuels this when they print over and over how paraglider pilots, "jump off mountains."

When I was doing the BFL I had to run down more than a few reports titled "man jumps from mountain and dies," and it was a paragliding accident and not BASE.

A friend of mine recently returned from vacation and told me he went paragliding and it was a blast. I figured he did a tandem paragliding flight. But when he showed me the vid he was being towed behind a boat with a round. What he meant was parasailing . . .

yeah...and then we have paraboat,parachutes,paramedics,paraolympics,paranuts, etc...is it any wonder why the public stay confused

Right after the site says a reserve would be pointless the take a picture of a jumper under canopy (at NRGB I believe) wearing a two parachute system. I Sunpath Javelin if my eyes are seeing what I think they are.

The general public doesn't tend know the difference between a rigid hand glider and a paraglider, and even less know the difference between a paraglider and parasailer... and then there are the power kites, and speed fliers, and kite surfers....

Hell most people don't know the difference between:

Oh, god. Don't get me started on that. Not to mention THEN/THAN and friends. Sometimes it's the ridiculous crap like mixing up our/hour etc.
