Saying hi. Hope to see many of you in the future!
Wanted to give an introduction, seeing as I have been visiting this board more frequently. I've been constantly reading this forum, along with watching a lot of BASE videos, looking at pictures, reading stories, etc.
I'm pretty new to the parachuting community. I've graduated from my student program, and am currently about halfway to getting my A license.
I'm currently in the military (enlisted USN), and a friend I met in Pensacola, FL got me into skydiving. He, like myself, are definitely interested in getting involved with BASE in the future. I remember watching a documentary on BASE jumping on TV about 4-5 years ago. It was definitely interesting to say the least, but I never imagined I would be interested in doing it myself in the future.
I went on a hike/run today, and when I stood on the edge of the rocks on a mountain, I could just imagine throwing myself over the edge. The videos definitely don't do their justice. Being on a mountain, standing on the edge just brought a new feeling, and fear, to what I can only imagine goes through a jumper's mind before they go. Must be quite an amazing experience, both physically, and mentally.
Gotta focus on skydiving first though, getting my license, and working on my canopy control. Probably won't be able to start BASE for a year or two, but when I do, I want to be as prepared as I can be when I make my first jump. I'm pretty young (almost 21), and am in no rush to start.
So I'll be poking my head around here and there, reading as much as I can about jumping, and I definitely hope to meet a lot of you in the future!
