Does anyone have any info on the MOD to remove the 5th brakeline on ACE canopies? I understand they have moved to 4 lines instead of 5 due to a potential line-over or tension knot (??) issue on slider-up jumps. I also hear that many have altered there old ACE's. Does anyone have the spec's on this? Will Asylum do the MOD?

here is a hint. call Asylum!! i cant think of a better place to get info on gear than the people that make/distribute it. Everyone up there knows the shit you inquire about.

I believe the modification you are inquiring about is the upgrade to only reposition one of the upper steering lines and adjust the length of an additional one. The result will yield 5 upper control lines, all of equal length, attached to a total of 2 cells per side.

Edited to add: applies only to Ace and Black Jack canopies manufactured prior to Dec 2004.

I think anyone with an appropriate sewing machine and the tools/skills should be able to do it for it you if you want/need it. I'm sure Asylum could help you out.

Open up the tail pocket and look for your canopy's DOM. It should also be fairly easy to tell if your upper brake lines are all the same length. Also if you have an older canopy and it's already had the mod you should see an extra unused attachment point. As far as I know all Ace's should have 5 upper brake lines.

I believe Apex offers 4 or 5 upper control lines as an option on the FOX and Flix.
