I use a method similar to the link mentioned, however, I take the extra few moments to apply the tailgate (rubber/masking) for a little more comfort. I am very sure that the bury the tail pack job decreases the chance of a line-over, I am not sure it eliminates it all together. Although I have jumped without the rubber, doesn't mean it was a good idea. Some will argue the simplicity of it, I argue its pretty simple to use it with little to no side effects.

i was thinking about slider up pack,...some say they putting the maskingtape slightly higher up(less chance for slider hang up?),maybe this is why one use masking tape and not the original tail-gate...,i don`t know a shit about this thing..im used with the "normal" packing method and i have never used tailgate, masking on slider up..but thought this was a good idea

Most dont use anything, due to the slider doing the job for you. Even in skydiving, a lineover is rare. That being said, I sometimes use painters tape...

What about slider gates? are these still being used?

I use a tapegate every jump.
all red for slider down, brakes only slider up.
when i do PG rollovers or dbag I use a brake tapegate as well.

Classic home made slider gate (webbing loop sewn on the trailing edge of the slider, larks headed rubber band), every SU jump. SU line over seems really unlikely to happen with proper packing, but i also really like the way it stages the opening. Takes 10 more seconds to pack..but it's just a personal preference...

Why only the brakes slider up? I'm curious because taping around the C-D lines as well ensures the tape will break.
