has anyone had a passion
i have this passion for base jumping and i havent even made a 1st jump

i cant explain this to anyone i know
most people cant at all understand why on earth i would want to put myself through so much danger
they cant even wrap their minds around the fact that i skydive every weekend
i agree its out of the norm
but come on
( i also think this is one of the reasons base is illegal but thats a totally different topic)

well i guess im wondering if anyone can relate

You obviously haven't gotten the word . . .

BASE jumping gear & techniques are now perfected.

And BASE jumping is only as dangerous as you make it!

I would venture to say that all of the BASE jumping community, be they BASE jumpers or not have felt that way at one time or another.

I would say your not alone.

I can relate. It started suddenly and I cannot explain it. And I do not consider myself any kind of thrill seeker or adrenaline junkie by any means. Yet, for some mysterious reason, I want to do this very much. Maybe it is for some sort of strange deep psychological reasons. Beats me. But I've been trying to jump through all the usual hoops to get into it, so I guess we'll see what happens.

I know what you are saying! I got my passion for skydiving first time I saw a demostration jump 8 years old, and first time I saw the Troll wall jumps on tv 12 years old, I knew I would be there one day! Take your time, and remember BASE jumping is not illegal, only some sites is illegal!

I can relate. I first jumped from my crib before I was two. Made several jumps from the arm on the couch. Started jumping from the bottom stair and worked my may up until it hurt. Jumped from the roof on the house with a bed sheet over my head into a snowbank. Many tree jumps and rope swing jumps into water. A twenty foot wind sock pole jump (ouchPirate). My mom said I tried to jump from the hospital table the day I was born even looked back to make sure the umbilical chord was clear before exit.

Dayblazing in a fuzzy pink bunny suit pretty much amplifies that statement. Laugh

Re: [CRAZYBOY333] has anyone had a passion
I think I can relate as well. I only have about 37 skydives and certainly didn't get into the sport for WS or BASE but I've become intrigued. I had a dream the other night that I did my first BASE jump and ever since I havent been able to stop thinking about it.

No matter.

I'm just going to stick with skydiving and enjoy the sport and see where it takes me. I'm not about to rush my jumps just to get into BASE and realize my obsession was only a phase.

I also feel the same, i have an overwhelming interest in BASE and cannot stop thinking about it and its been like this for nearly 2 years. i have so many BASE dvd's and books. Only problem is i have only just started skydiving to get some canopy experience and tracking skills. Would the fact that i can fly a paraglider pretty well help at all?
