Our friend Jeb proved the defense "I planned my jump around traffic and people below so I would not create an endangerment (nuisance)" worked... At least once.
I would fight it (if you can make it to the court date) and explain just like a pedestrian crosses a road between traffic, at the exit point of YL you can see the road and work around traffic.
If they want to give you a ticket for your activity - they would - to be fair - have to give the exact same ticket to every bicyclist, runner, walker, or pedestrian who uses the roads and may cross the road, or park on the side of the road, or stop walking on the road for a water break, between traffic. Climbers who stand on the side of the road are equally to blame.
I would be much more willing to give you a donation to fight this one (to set precedent) instead of giving you a donation to pay.
Note - if your jump was poorly timed and you cut off a car, or made a car slow down, then well - you probably had it coming to ya.
