Corky Ferguson - FJC?
Anybody taken Corky's FJC at First Impact Rigging?
Impressions of him? Thoughts? Good experience? Jumped with him personally? Personality impressions?
Feel free to PM me, as candid feedback would be most appreciated.

I recognize that this is the classic "which course is better" question, with all the problems of nobody having cross trained in first jump courses (except the 1 I found in a search), as well as this being an internet forum, but wanted to ask anyway for whatever information I can get.

Thanks!

I have observed several FJC's both before and after I was ever in a rig, including Corky's. You are no more likely to die in his course as you are in, say, Apex's. You'll get out of it what you want.

I went through Corky's course. He is a good guy, and he is very experienced and knowledgeable. He may be tough on you, but it will be for your own benefit. If Corky will have you for a student, then I say go for it!

thanks all, thats the kind of info I was interested in.

A friend and I were recommended to him for our FJC, and I just wanted to learn other's experience with him - ie somebody who's a pain in the ass about meticulous pack jobs - just fine by me. I'm working on gettin as much packing practice as possible before the summer...

I'm also interested in cross-referencing his experience, though again, I realize this is an internet forum.

Hung out and watched Corky at the Heliboogy 07, he is a great guy, seemed very knowledgeable and the two people he was mentoring it seemed he was very into making them better jumpers whereas some others might be more interested in the high fives and beers.

Corky's experience...well he has over 1500 BASE jumps and well over 100 different objects. As a jumper is a hard ass on who ever wants to learn because he takes BASE jumping very seriously. He wants to make sure that once he sets his rabbit out on their own they're not gonna fuck up or burn a place down.

His course is pretty intense. One benifit is that he trains all of his rabbits on packing before they leave for their trip. So you're not wasting time during the course trying to learn. He also is intensive on gear knowledge, being a master rigger he wants to make sure a BASE jumper will know how to make minor repairs in the field if needed. I could go on...

Another thing...he won't take just anybody. He has to have seen you skydive. He watches your canopy skills. He also does an informal interview to see what your overall state of mind is. So be prepared.

I could be biased however being that he's my husband, but if you really want the inforamation call him at 661.623.3083. Good luck where ever you decide to go.

Took me a little while to decipher but that's pretty funny.

Corky is very good at what he does. Excellent rigger and methodical teacher and BASE jumper.
