Seeking Mentor
Hi there.
I am looking for a serious mentorship, I have been researching and need some solid direction and help. I believe I am ready to take further steps in the direction of the first jump.
I am located in the panhandle of florida, any help is greatly appreciated.

One of the best of the 'old school' BASE jumpers lives in southern Baldwin County Alabama, not too far from you. THE pioneer in low freefall BASE.
Not sure if he's accepting students, however.

Re: [bmsbase] Seeking Mentor
Thanks all!
I feel sort of hesitant, is it rude/taboo to just start knocking on doors, is there any comfortable way to approach one of these people?
Thanks again everyone,

knocking on doors, demanding help? yes.

knocking on doors, offering help/beer? no.

be a good guest, show respect, be patient, and you should have some luck. (it might take more time than you expect however...)

Re: [stemcell4all] Seeking Mentor
If 'Housed' had the money to fly
to NYC for training then he would
probably just fly to Twin Falls and
take an FJC there. Wink

I'd do it for one bottle of Patron silver, two large-breasted Bi chicks with miserable self-esteem, a polaroid, and a 4-pound chicken. Total bargain.

Re: [GreenMachine] Seeking Mentor

Jump on a smoker to Los Angeles.

Bring an open mind and a good attitude and I'll intro you to the right people and maybe some ground crewing.

PM me.

Oh, and some history too . . .

Re: [NickDG] Seeking Mentor
OMG! beware of nick offering history - it's very interesting and you will learn a lot, but it might eat up all of your annual holidays (and that's just him talking about the period from 1869 to the end of WW2...)

:-)

hey nick - you know i love your stories (and fortunately, in Germany we have a little more holidays)

I'll be in Cali for a few days some time late July/early August. We'll be pretty busy but I might be able to get away from the team for a day or so. If things work out, can I too get in on some history, pleeease? Smile

Re: [stevenm] Seeking Mentor
Steve,

Have you skydived yet?

Just Curious?

Re: [GreenMachine] Seeking Mentor
Sadly, not yet. I'm still in the same situation, and still finishing up my last semester of college. I'm very excited about the skydiving - just thinking about it makes me all warm and fuzzy Blush. Graduation is in a few months...

But I'll be in Cali for a competition and figured there might be an opportunity to meet some of the oldschool jumpers, if they are around and things work out.

Re: [housed] Seeking Mentor
Hey everyone, like housed I have not yet made the 1st base jump, but I think about it more and more everyday. Pretty much everyone at my home DZ has told me not to do it. I am not looking to do it now, but sometime in the somewhat near future. I live in TX around the austin area. I sometimes feel like I'm asking questions that Im not supposed to ask when talking BASE at the DZ, everyone just tells me to forget about it. Any insight would be appreciated.
