Gargoyle bridal reversal
Does anyone using a gargoyle have a pic they can post or pm me of their rig with the pin sequence reversed as discused in an earlier thread (ie for hand held/low) im interested in trying it but it just doesnt look right when i do it. (wouldnt want to screw it up and all) i would appreciate it.

On a borrowed gargoyle I have done it before... I will PM a gargoyle like rig, the way I have tested on a few low objects...Tongue

What does not look right with yours???

One of my local rigging mentors had a good rule of thumb I remember for BASE too. "Look at it from the PC to the risers, see if anything can or will get in the way."

Re: [tdog] Gargoyle bridal reversal
My main concern is the way pins just didnt seem right the way i had to manipulate the bridle and bridal pin attachment. I cant really be more specific because im so busy with work i havent got time to jump at the mo so my rig is with a mate to learn to pack and im trying to work from memory. Dont see any point in reinventing the wheel so just wondered what others do. Cheers for the fast responce but there was no attachment on that pm Wink

There's couple of pics of my gargoyle closed as described above. I've only used this method twice but worked ok and seems pretty good idea to me.

....but make sure you have enough slack below the bottom pin to allow the pin to pull without the bridle inhibiting it, otherwise you'll be towing.... Shocked

Re: [BASE475] Gargoyle bridal reversal
true i recently changed to routing out between the side flaps even though i was anal about leaving a slack loop at the top. I will continue to do this for the low crap i am reversing the sequqnce on cheers for the pm tdog got it this time.

i've used that method a few times on my gargoyle... makes climbing over rails a bit easier. does anyone use the same method on a Ppro?? haven't tried it on my new rig.

Re: [adrianh] Gargoyle bridal reversal
has anyone ever used a straight release pin for this?

Re: [marcg] Gargoyle bridal reversal
how much is really gained by this? less snag hazard?

seems like a pain to have to rerig your bridle every time..

Re: [marcg] Gargoyle bridal reversal
Straight pins rely on the pull force being in a straight line from the pin, curved pins will orientate themselves to whichever direction the pull force is coming from. No need to use a straight pin, curved ones pull whatever your orientation, a straight one won't. Try it yourself, Get a straight pin from a rigger, tie a bit of string to it, insert it into a loop on a closed rig and play with the angles you can pull it from. you'll be amazed how difficult it is to pull when the force is not in line with the pin.

Curved pins - simple, effective, genius. That's why we use them.

thanx for information. sounds absolutely logical. it just crossed my mind because of the changed pull direction. but why should the rules of physik change to... :)

keep it simple stupid.

Re: [marcg] Gargoyle bridal reversal
What is getting accomplished by doing all of this, BTW? Why not just prime the hell out of the pins before exit, lengthen the closing loop, use different closing loop material, a bigger/better PC, vented/valved canopy, etc?

Seems like you are making it way too complicated...

I'm with you on this one. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Wink

Dave O beat me on this one.

We discuss things like this, and I believe it does produce new ideas and stimulate thought on whatever subject is being gone over. But at some point it looks like splitting hairs. I guess if you put 1000 jumps under your belt, this might come into play a few of them.

Then theres the guy with his 900 jump Fox and worn old rig that says "3 ring, cutaway, toggles, bridle, PC..cya!"

Re: [Twoply] Gargoyle bridal reversal
how does he check his toggles prior to exit?? Crazy
Shortcut
Re: [Ghetto] Gargoyle bridal reversal
maybe he's got one of them rigs with the externally mounted toggles (they are on the mud flaps - i didn't feel like searching for the rig in question - feel free or someone else will do it i'm sure)

or maybe he opens the containerWink

...or perhaps a clear plastic backpad?

On a very low jump a buddy had his bridle hang up on the bottom right corner of his gargoyle... Scary stuff! A little pale and shaky afterwards but luckily no harm. He put the velcro thing on since but I figure this solution is better.

Re: [pocbase] Gargoyle bridal reversal
triple check your bridle routing. every time. every time.
every time.

use the velcro, hooks on right shoulder, loops on bridle.

why rerig your bridle over and over?

one of the reason is for example this above...
oposite bridal routing for specific low jump is very easy to instal and it has more than logical technical explanation why it is good
