I think it's quite common, but it's the pointy end of the freefall spectrum.
Pilot chute size is obvious, a very big one. I've always used a ZP 48". As for the canopy size, the smaller ones will be lighter, again I've always used a 265 or a 245 (vented of course).
More important is correct technique. There are different opinions on how to do it, but throwing the pilot chute up as you exit seems the best. Some people fold their pilot chute up very small. I just fold the mesh on the bridal and leave the fabric open. You can still throw it and there is less to unravel before inflation.
If using a pin rig (which you should) you may also want to route the bridal out the top instead of the bottom because your body position should be more head high.
You may also want to put spectra closing loops on.
