Ty 283, i just realized i had placed no details of said event on the thread, my apologies.

the event occured when 3 months ago i decided to flick a 450fter in the back ozarks here in arkansas "my secret place" names not mentioned. Anyways, exit was great. had a pretty strong flow running along the face which caused my pop to go 45 left i recovered from this upset but by the time i got tracked on my landing area i had lost to much alt for my slope to put me on my target area, so i redirected for my "plan B" area . with my mojo 260 nice and compressed i set up for my approach i had about 30yrds to go when i was hit by a microburst that felt like god pulled his hands out from under me and i decended into a patch of oak trees and upon entry into the trees my right calf was perforated by a snapped twig which entered from the bottom and protruded out the top to the right of my knee cap. when my mojo contacted the convientally bare leafless trees it was shredded into 2 peices each of which had its own set of tears in it. Unfortunatally my entire rig sustained extreme damage that from my own standards deemed it unserviceable, also my leg required surgery to remove the limb that was embedded in my calf. My Thanks to Corey and Sandra for calling the medflight in. I cant thank you guys enough! Well my physical therapys scheduled to be up in 2 more months "jitters just thinking about it" Unfortnatally the hospital bills and surgery did more than enough to put a negative remainder on my bank account. I am absolutely estatic about getting back out there but my budget im afraid wont allow it soon.. If theres anyone out there with a reliable rig that would accomidate a 6'1 185 lb frame that they would be willing to get rid of cheap PLEASE contact me. Ill do anything. Clean your house, polish your car, wash your dog! lol.. i guess im hoping to make some friends by posting this on the site. Ive read the message boards and you all sound like some really great guys and i look foward to having some fun down the road after my rehab. is over!! I personally feel that if i wouldnt have gone out that day with people that just wanted to watch, and went out with fellow experienced base jumpers my situation could have been avoided. 1. you don't need anybody when you're on top. you're number one when you're on top and you own the world (i've been there; so has everyone else out there).

2. you only need your friends when you're down. when you're down the only thing you've got is your friends.

whether it's you that's down or another person it's irrelevant. my point is this. you're the person who's down or helping the those who're down. either way, joining when you need a favor is bad form.

if you are too injured to work, I suggest you might want to heal more before jumping again. what would happen if you experienced a second accident? can your body take it? can your finances handle it?

since claim you have only 15 jumps, do NOT jump with others, and are new to this site, I have no clue where you are getting your information. you instill very little confidence that you can prevent a second accident on borrowed gear.

I'd suggest finding others and ground crewing for them while you heal your body and finances. when the time is right, those you help might help you by letting you jump their gear.

its cool guys.. i spoke to a friend of mine here in ark and hes gota raven hes sellin me for 200 i think if i send in my perigree i can get the shredded strap replaced. lol.. yah it was a pretty hard landing.. shoulda seen the slider down off the first water tower i did.. .. i got like a 2 sec canopy ride.. im a glutton for funishment my word copywrited " i dont mind all yalls creative input and no.. i didnt just join this site because i needed help.. i had a friend richard h. who died at TF not to long ago... when i was looking for info i found this site.. im not to big on the whole "internet community" concept therefore i havnt spent much time searching for base relasted info online. And to add, my job is aerial photograpy, i fly a powered chute for a living "buckeye breeze LX-912" so ive had my fair share of canopy time, be it not jumping off objects its still flying the same, i did my first base about 9 yrs ago off of a rf tower south of "lonoke" arkansas" ever since then ive been hooked.. never had a mentor other than skydiving school... i did alot of reading on pc sizes, how to pick a favorable exit, rules "call the locals, sheriff ect. favorable objects ect and i went about it myself, because at that time i didnt even HAVE internet... i really really enjoy this sport and at the same time im careful not to make mistakes.... but unfortunatly CR does not sale any object which can neutralize a mirco burst before it bitch slaps you down into a patch of oak trees.. oh well... least i didnt get the twig stuck in my ass?.. lol... anyways.. has anyone ever heard of the guy that flicked the <site name removed ~TA>?... ive heard all kinds of urban legends about it but no proof... ????

if you can not correct a 45 deg. off heading from 450 ft object you need to go skydiving, not base jumping

- If you cant recover a 45 (wich isnt really a real offheadding) from 450 ft, you should reconsider jumping at all... skydiving, base, from small boxes or whatever.

- If you really got busted up getting into a tree, that sucks, but thats life... Jump in better weather next time.

- If your hospital bill is to high... ask your self why you live in a country when you have to pay for hospital care, wich could be free, like in the rest of the world.

- The old raven is a great canopie. put it in an old pop-top leather chaser and you can go jump low objects for real.

- 15 jumps... since 2006.. or what?

Anyway. dont get winded up over your own situation, this is the deal when you base jump and live in USA. things do happend... and it will cost you money and time and offcource pain sometimes... thats life... harden up and work for a year , and then youre back on track again buddy...

Where was the offline wealth of information that you found about BASE jumping when you don't even know anyone else who jumps? Are local libraries in Arkansas big on stocking do it yourself BASE manuals?

Now all someone has to do is offer him a rig, then he will send you a fake cashier's check valued at more than agreed upon price; this will come from a third party whom he claims owes him some money. At that point, he will request that the rig be sent out and the additional funds be wired to him immediately. However, he will be far more concerned with the money than the rig. This is due to the fact that he doesn't actually jump...

When everyone mocks him for coming across as ridiculous, he will defend himself by making a grand show and throwing insults and guilt trips... oh wait, he already did that.

If you aren't mentioning site names, why did you name the B in LR? Yes it has been flicked and there is proof, but that is all I can say about that.
If you aren't an awesome tall tale teller, you need to quit going at it solo, and find a mentor to help you make better decisions in BASE jumping. This is definitely not a sport to go at alone. You might have studied PCs, but what about jumping sites with inapproiate wind conditions? Ultimately, the choice to jump or not is yours, but I think you are gonna be hard pressed to find a rig lender after the information you have posted here at your experience level.

it is quite possible to teach yourself how to BASE jump. it is how the founders did it. it also leads to a higher accident rate. (look at the ugly accident you suffered on your 15th jump. look at Richard's death on his 3rd...)

now, you can choose to continue on the path that lead to your injury, blaming it on bad luck. you might be right. I'm just a bit shocked that you would be in such a rush to continue with an activity with such a high personal accident rate.

others here attempt to turn over twigs looking at the details that you find unimportant. attention to that kind of detail has greatly lowered the accident rate. it is why the accident rate for the sport is greatly different than the one for you and Richard.

you paint yourself as rash and impulsive. neither attributes contribute to a long BASE career.

congratulations(?) on finding a rig. I declined your request for several reasons, one being your stated inability to abide by the "you break it, you buy it" understanding.

Clearly this guy is a troll with no actual knowledge of gear or jumping. In all that he wrote he never mentioned anything about how his "rig" was damaged beyond use. By rig I mean your actual harness/container. You could land in a tree a hundred times and you would never hurt your actual rig. How is it that you managed to destroy your "rig" but only invent a story by which your parachute is torn?

You have made a specticle out of your post. I dont have much BASE experience, but what I do have I have never come across such foolish talk about how rad your jump went. My thinking that leeds me to not believe a word about you is based on the fact that if you did a four hundred and fifty footer and had only a forty-five degree off heading and couldn't land where you wanted cause by the time you corrected it you were way too low. What did you use to correct your "off" heading? Your front riser? You know the black webbing holding the front line groups!?!?(those string looking things that go all the way up the "chute". (Thats short for canopy.)

Try deeper brakes and use the rears!

Shawn, if you're for real, I'd strongly urge you to contact one of the three Arkansas jumpers who posted in this thread. Starting BASE, you'll find that help from more experienced jumpers can help you avoid accidents. There is definitely a lesson for you to learn here, and I challenge you to learn it.

Everyone else: Either this is a straight up Troll (likely), or he's genuinely in need of some serious help and guidance (unlikely, but possible). In either case, the vast majority of the posts in this thread aren't likely to help.
