In case you didn't know, Bruce is taking an unscheduled break from BASE jumping for the next 1-2 years. Bruce started BASE jumping in 1993 and he's hurled himself from objects throughout the USA, Italy, Malaysia, Switzerland etc. He recently requested that his friends and fellow jumpers send him letters, photos, cards, pictures of your girlfriends, etc. He can also receive: New and old magazines (Skydiving, Parachutist), books, basejumper.com thread printouts, etc. He cannot receive porn, videos, knives, hacksaws, etc. His address is:

He's OK. It's nothing serious and probably falls at the bottom of the list of bad behavior. If you write him, be sure to ask him to send you a sample of his famous "toilet wine".

A few years! Give a man addictive pills and then lock him up for being addicted?

i agree, seems harsh considering some of the light penalties violent offenders get off with. i'll write to him, hope i remember how, havent written anything longer than a christmas card in years : ).

Kramer said he wanted people to write him and he understood that they would know he's locked up. Originally, I wasn't going to tell anyone why he's in there, but I think it's better to let everyone know he's not in for anything serious at all.

I've been writing Bruce and he's hanging in there the best he can, bored silly and time is just dragging on.

He told me to let people know NOT to send stamps or SASE because they take them from him before he gets his mail. He has to buy his stamps through the commissary, along with everything else he needs, and I mean everything!

If you want to send magazines for him then they have to be a subscriptions to him. He thinks he'll be out October 6 this year (just in time for BD but I'm sure his probation won't let him go) so a six month subscription to him for anything (no porn or anything close) would be really thoughtful from anybody to help a really good guy. Car mags, Motorcycle mags, Gun mags, your home town newspaper, basically anything a man would like.

I sent cash to put on his "books" to help with things. It's a scam where he's at, to make phone calls to his son he has to buy their phone cards at .50 per minute, what a ripoff.

I'm making stills off of DV tapes to brighten things up for him to hang around. If you can help him out anyway or means that would great. He also wanted me to thank everyone that's helped this far.

It's a karma kind of thing. Good things come to good people. Vince

I have a pact with several individuals. If any of us gets incarcerated for any length of time, we will send that individual get well cards occasionally. The bottom right hand corner of the card as it is opened and you read it will be soaked in LSD (you must purchase cards on the correct paper for the blotter function, rag-type paper). Should be enough for 100+ hits.

These can be for personal use, trade material, or to drop on someone unknowingly for personal amusement or gain.

This would be tough to pull for Bruce after the fact, but something that should be kept in everyones mind for future issues.

Bruce is definitely one of the good guys. He helped me get my first "A,"and has always been a friend.

I'm definitely writing in his time of need.

But Bruce locked up!? That stinks.

I just got a letter from Bruce and he wanted me to tell everyone "thanks from the bottom of my heart". He also states:

There are some good jumpers out there. They've sent me letters, magazines, $, pictures, everything I really need. It really makes my day to hear my name at mail call. I sincerely appreciate the support and I answer every letter. Send more pictures of cool shit and cool adventures. Thanks!!


Keep those letters and pictures coming. Also, Bruce told me he's the ping-pong champion on H-block. He says that his "catlike BASE reflexes" help out a lot.

PS. Remember, you can only send him money orders so he can write back. He can't accept SASE's, as the jail he's at only permits him to buy his stamps, letters, paper, etc. You can also get him a subscription to a magazine, but you can't send him the magazine yourself. His address at the top of this thread is current as of early April 2008.

Just got another letter from Bruce and he says he'll be a free man shortly before Bridge Day. We're going to try to drag his butt to West Virginia and throw him off the bridge as long as he's permitted to cross state lines.

Prison sex only happens when you're in for MANY years with hard criminals. Sounds like Bruce got "slapped" with something many of has done, or thought, but just got caught. Can't wait to see him at BD!

well the rumors are true they actually let me out!! i thought going on base trip were an adventure. wow i've got some great prison stories to tell. thanks to everyone for there words of encouragement and for the letters and attempts at packages. getting mail was one of the very few joys we got "on the inside". i made it out without a prison tattoo or making/drinking toilet wine. i still had a real-life adventure. i have a lot to take care of but i'm viewing this as a chance to truly srart over from stratch. no more bullsh!t. i used my "vacation" to try to get my head on straight and get my life in focus. i look forward to seeing all of you at the exit point as soon as i can. again thank you from the bottom of my heart. all of your support will not be forgotten. cya 509
