Non-base jumps
Hay guys, just wondering, did any of y'all(you guys) ever just like to jump off things before you started base jumping? Not anything huge but just for the fun of it.

My friends and I have always liked to jump off anything we could. We also look for bridges and cliffs(with water underneath) to jump off of. Actually this past summer I jumped off the highest thing I ever had before. It was a train bridge, it's about fifty feet up and I landed in about six feet of water. The first one was good the second time I hit my ass pretty hard but it was awesome. Wasn't a really long fall, for me it was, but it was one of the best feelings I've ever had.

Anyone else have any interesting stories?

In my freshman year of highschool
we had fun 'Tree Falling' -- 3 guys
climb a thin tree as high as they
can till it bends over.

Most of the time it was a fun ride
occasionally the tree would breakPirate

Rooftops and trash bag parachutes.

My first B was at 12 years old, off my friends chimney with a homemade harness (fold-up lawn chair and rope) and homemade parachute (rain fly from my tent). This was a friend-assisted TARD... Basically I jumped and he threw the rain fly over me as I left. This was also my first BASE incident, with a badly sprained knee and ankle. Damn it's hard to PLF with a lawn chair strapped to your ass.

i jumped off a vertical rock face at 14 years old, not intentionally, but accidentally when i lost my grip rock climbing. my chin met solid rock on the ground as i had fallen in a perfect boxman position. i stood up and spit out 8 shattered teeth, about a pint of blood, and felt the gaping split in my chin where i needed like 30 stitches. it was also an interesting feeling to have had both jawbones fracture and damn near puncture my ear canal. 2 years of dental reconstructive surgery and 6 weeks of my jaw being wired shut (no solid food), and i was back climbing again! (with ropes this time)

it was an experience..........

My parents used to get so mad at me for that!

They put a stop to it when we started going for double gainers into the snowbanks (cause just one wasn't enough...) Laugh

Oh Yes.Wink

I mastered PLFs off of 1 story roofs into grass at around 12 years old. Bed sheet overhead and matress on the ground from 1.5 stories at 13 years old.

Don't have that many BASE jumps but did army jump school and started skydiving at 18.

we have a pond at my house in northern california... it is pretty deep with an earth dam but in the summer it dries out. I took some cord and cut a bunch of contractor bags up and taped them together to make a parachute. I jumped off the damn... (about 20 feet) luckily the base of it was slightly inclined... it hurt like hell and I was about 9 years old so it was a pretty big fall... (I didnt have time to go into my track....) :) :) :)
